do I need to buy and from what model?

going to refurbish 108's and need to take wheels off.

Low trolley jack is the best and safest option to go for. I'd also get a set of axle stands as you should never work under a car with a jack alone.

Halfords, Machine Mart are simple starting points
 
I thought a scissor jack would be ok from another model ?

Such jacks are for emergency use only and are at best a slow rickety and unstable way of lifting a car and potentially dangerous. Since you can pick trolley jacks up for as little as £20 why bother with unsuitable scissor jack, but hey it's your choice?
 
I was 20 years old and working under a Vauhall Cresta PB 3 litre (anyone remember that 1970s gangster bus?) using a scissor jack - as I got out from under the car, the jack exploded. Lesson one - never use a scissor jack. Lesson two - always use axle stands.

PS I'm now over 50 and loving my Z4, so pretty pleased it didn't all end under a Cresta thirty years ago! :D :driving: 8)

MMMMMMMMMMMM Its Frothy Man i take it you can remember the add :D but on a serious note love the old 50s Crestas was the PB the big square job.
My dads boss had one think it was two tone green dark green with a white roof.

Thirty years on and my memory is not what it was! My car was a PC (not PB) and big and square with a straight six 3.3 litre with three speed steering column shift and it went like &%$* off a shovel but cornering was a challenge. Loved that car and at 20, in the early 70s, memories... :roll:

Thats the one my dad had a few Vauxhalls Bedford Beagle vans a Viva followed by a VX http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Vauxhall_VX_490.jpg Gold with a cream vinyl roof remember him briniging it home thought it was awesome at the time

Have one of the cheaper jacks but mine will not fit under the Z unless i drive onto wood blocks which i do not like doing thats why i am looking at a low slung race type jack bit more on the pricey side but its something i will keep forever just make sure you got enough clearance

I would love something like this http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00950187000P?mv=rr but do not think it will go low enough to clear
