When you say farting, what sort of a fart - squelchy, wet, machine gun, etc ?

Are there skid marks?
Sorry for the fart related jokes, maybe a video of the sound would help the diagnosis.

Lol , a friend of mine took a look at it today and said the manifold has a crack. Will I cause any further damage by driving it ?

Probably not going to cause damage immediately but letting it go can typically cause rough running, possible exhaust valve damage, fumes getting in the passenger compartment and damage to the catalytic converter since the 02 sensors get foxed and will put the fuel management on a default mode to protect the engine. Best sorted sooner..

Recently had mine repaired. Had the manifold removed and re-cast under warranty. Invoice sent to dealer was £215 for manifold repairs but mine was done at same time as getting new timing chain fitted so not sure if labour costs are representative. Crack on mine was not serious enough to trigger EML warning but did have the distinctive blown exhaust noise and smell of fumes in the cabin when stationary.
*new manifold fitted will be in region of £1k. If you know a good welder I'd go with that option since the new replacement will likely crack anyway thanks to poor design of exhaust system on 2.0.

Sure is! BMW designed the 2.0 exhaust system with cats integral to the manifold to help lower emissions (by heating cats up faster from engine heat). Weight of cats hanging pulling on manifold plus flexing of engine on its mounts = cracked manifolds galore and many upset 2.0 owners.
