Car Insurance

Hi everyone,

I have bought an 04' 3.0. I've yet to start to look for insurance quotes but before I embark. What are peoples recommendations for car insurance?

Has anyone been able to get any "classic" policies as I've heard once cars hit 20 years they can qualify.

I understand Chris Knott provides insurance quotes and there is a discount code which I will try but will compare to other insurers out there too

Congrats and welcome :D

I've had the 2.5i insured with Admiral for a couple of years at a reasonable cost and a decent policy coverage. Chris Knott were competitive on a quote for me, but I swapped into the 3.0si before taking them up on that and CK weren't competitive on that. Aviva ended up being the best value on a sensible policy for me on the 3.0si - ended up paying £50/year less than the 2.5i was with Admiral. Mental.

The price comparison websites are half-decent at getting you an idea, and I believe Chris Knott can get you a better quote if you've already got quotes from elsewhere first so I'd suggest that as the easy first step.

I've not had to claim with either Aviva or Admiral so don't know how good they are. That's really the important bit, I know a friend had massive issues getting Tesco to pay out for a no-fault claim about 5 years ago, dragged on for ages. NFU insure my other cars, I've had payouts within the week from them for two previous claims over the years.

Hi, insurance is a complete lottery.
One guy will swear by a company and 10 others will say they're awful.
Chris Knott were not competitive in the slightest when I bought my z4.
I am with Adrian Flux who I've found very good.
But it depends on so many different factors that finding a suitable comparison is almost impossible.
Best of luck

Very true about individuals experience. I found Adrian Flux the most expensive option, also tried Chris Knott and a few others but the best quote was with Howden who I ended up going with.
I put some info here https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=2100543#p2100543

My E86 is on a limited mileage policy of four or five thousand miles per year. I've also not included commuting on the policy. Both factors reduce the insurance.
I'm around £200 per year

I can't use comparison sites because my MC has modifications.

When I first got it I alternated between Adrian Flux and Chris Knott. Last renewal AF couldn't offer anything competitive, Howdens Thatcham office were slightly cheaper than CK but CK matched it so I stayed with them.

Lancaster don't insure anything less than 20 years old but are supposed to be good.

I wouldn't touch Admiral after my nephew's experience of them when his car became a Cat S that should have been Cat N. Same for Hastings after one of their policyholders hit the back of my 3 Series last year and they made that a Cat N when all it needed was a new rear bumper cover.

Churchill for me. I've got both cars on limited mileage also of around 3-4k a year. The cayman was £189 and the e89 was £260.
