I was unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident this summer - nothing too dramatic I was driving straight down a road and someone coming the opposite way pulled an illegal right hand turn straight into my front quarter :headbang:

He admitted liability - the case was settled in my favour very quickly. All good (or so I thought)

I am looking at insurance now and quoted for all my correct details but left out the accident, got a pretty good quote. Then I added the accident, told them it was other party who was to blame, only small amount of damage, no personal injury claim. Basically no big deal... they have decided that now I should pay an extra £200 a year for insurance?! :x :x

What a total joke, I was the victim of someone elses mistake, I didn't claim I had whiplash. I did the honerable thing and cost the insurance company very little and now they slap this on me  really annoying!!

Sorry I needed to vent!

This is probably why people out there with minor shunts do claim for all sorts of fake injuries.... as if they are not injuried at the time they will be rear ended when the renewal comes through.

It so stupid.. how does having someone hit you make it more likely to be hit again.. surely the logic of lightning dosnt strike twice should applied?

But i feel your pain..... A couple of years ago i had my car rear ended twice within 6 months.... my renawal more then doubled as a result - And it affected me for a couple of years as they always ask "Been involved in an accident in the last 3 years regardless of fault" :x :x

Do you need to declare an accident when it wasn't your fault? :? I need to know this as I've still got an open claim going through

My wife's car got bumped by a Tesco van 4 years ago - not only do we have to keep telling them about it every time I go looking for quotes.
I also have to tell my insurance about it - 'cos she's a second driver on my Zed. :headbang:

mrs gannet's renewal just came through this morning 50% increase from last year - WTF... certainly seems to be a lot of random number generators going on :(

Renewal makes her 1.5 Mazda 2 Sport more expensive to insure than the zed - go figure that one out!

I'v enever understood why insurance companies increase premiums for completely innocent folk - I'd certainly like to hear what Tim @ Chris Nott (the forum insurer) could say about this...

My premium increased this year by £60 purely based on me notify them of my wife's 3 points for speeding in the past 12 months. I'd got the quotes first of all without these points to get a cost, then disclosed them and got quotes again. Fair enough she's apparently "higher risk" but come on, that's ridiculous.
