Car Insurance Question

Anyone ever had insurance with a Telematics Box?
IE: http://www.confused.com/car-insurance/telematics

Been doing some quotes and because I'm 20 they keep offering me insurance with a telematics box about £300 cheaper then the nearest quote.

Question is, what are they like? Now I'd like to think I'm a good driver generally, but obviously with a Z driving is going to be a little bit more spirited from time to time, especially after I've just got it. Are they likely to fit the box, see some fast acceleration (within the speed limit of course) and cancel the insurance on me or chuck the premium up?
 
I wouldn't do it. Unless your going to stick to the speed limits at all times they will have you by the short and curlys.

But then again I'm 39 and paying £370 for an ///M :D
 
DO NOT HAVE ONE FITTED!!!

You're buying a sports car and you will want to drive it as it was intended be used, with a telematics box fitted you wont be able to, paying the extra £300 will be the best money you will ever spend :thumbsup:
 
What quotes are you getting with/without out of curiousity?

I am 20 and had my Z 6 months now and am only paying £1.2k/year on my 2.5i, which given age I thought was really reasonable. Spoke to them about both a 3.0si and a ///M for after my 21st in Feb and they are happy to insure both at sub £1.5k as well.

Admiral/Elephant if you were wondering.
 
With the box : 1045
Without : 1300 is the cheapest (elephant).

Thats at 20, with 2 years no claims and living in the second best postcode band there is, on a 3.0 :)
 
If it makes you feel better, I turned down a quote from Bell for £1100 with one of them boxes.
Ended up going with Elephant for £1400 or so.

23 with 6years no claims, 3.0si Coupe

You're lucky to get such 'cheap' quotes at your age.

Snatch their hand off at £1300 mate! Im 23 with 6 years NCB and I pay £1100 on my 3.0si coupe!
