Car insurance on the rise?

Anyone else noticed this year's quotes are higher than last?

I've moved to a lower rated postcode area but otherwise everything is the same and my quotes are coming back £200 dearer on average?

My insurance renewal has just come in from Admiral on a multicar with the wifes Pug 3008 at £521
i called them and had a discount applied ....new renewal quote of £378....
Thankks very much..i'll 'ave some of that

Both of my cars are with Saga and I paid a few £'s more last year to guarantee a same price premium for the next two renewals. It had to be worth punt - from memory it was about £40 extra.
it seems it might be money well spent!

Mines gone up 6 quid to £221 so not a big deal if I cannot get it cheaper if I can Admiral will beat it they always have for a fair few years now one of the few things I like about being an old git :D

In November my renewal came through just above last years £320 ish
Went on confused got a quote for £214,phoned Adrian flux my current provider explained my cheaper quote ,they came back after 5 minutes with a counter offer of £211 result ,saved me around a third and £100 for 5 mins on line and a 5min phone call.2003 3.0 e85 ,52 years young :D

Well I thought I had done well in June when I switched at renewal to Churchill for my E86 - about £330 IIRC.

But then I bought my M in December and they had my pants down! Another £140 or so until June 2020 with the rip-off "admin fee", and £45 a month to keep my 3.0Si covered. Cancelling wasn't an option as they would have charged me short-term rates because I'd only been with them 6 months. :(

I'll explore other options again when renewal comes around!

I added an extra car onto my policy, moved to multi-vehicle, added business use and moved from 10000 miles across three cars to unlimited mileage on all four. The premium dropped by about £25.

Got my v70 r stolen in october with adrian flux £300 before bought a e86 £115 for a month till renewal
My renewal was £1933 lol when I rung them they said they would drop to £1700 with a £3000 excess lol lol lol . Chris Knott £591

Just had my renewal through. £577 as opposed to the £420 I payed last year. Thats a 37% increase based on no changes!! :headbang:

Problem is the best quotes ive been able to find elsewhere are all around £500 too. Its ridiculous. Going to need to play more with this to try and get it down

Every year without fail my auto renewal letter comes in 40% more expensive than the previous year.
Every year without fail i phone up to cancel.
Every year i use gocompare, and go with whoever is cheapest.
Had 5 different insurers in the past 5 years. Really getting tired of the insurance auto renew BS scandal, if a company sent through a reasonable renewal quote id happily stay with them, but every year without fail they try and jack up the price, they are all the same!

I’ve never understood why insurance companies don’t recognise brand loyalty- I did ask one of them and their excuse “ it’s computer generated “ !
Absolute tosh!

Because their computer algorithm has told them it's cheaper to offer good deals to a few new customers than it is to keep giving discounts to existing/lazy (as in not shopping around) ones.

There's enough 'lazy' customers in most industries that these industries don't have to try very hard (energy firms, Virgin Media, Sky, etc.).

there was one piece of legislation that should help, the fact that insurance renewal letters have to state what the price was the previous year, so everyone can clearly see how much they're trying to rip you off...

"Last years quote was £260. this years renewal price is £380, despite you not having made a claim. Would you like to auto renew?"

Oooh, let me think...

Part of the legislation was also for them to require to give you a breakdown/reason for the increase...but I bet that was just a 'guideline' that they can choose to ignore :x

I did a quick MS/GC/CTM/Confused check (based on slightly tweaked saved data from last year), and my Admiral multi-car renewal was a bit less, so simply renewed.

I got mine for £475 this year for the M with Chris Knott, all mods declared etc etc. £100 cheaper than the renew quote. It's cheeky but it's the nature of it now, they see what they can get away with. The rewards are still there for the savvy who are prepared to spend an hour shopping about :)

Just renewed mine today Admiral matched some slightly better quotes I had on Go Compare got her insured for another year £192 :D Tax has been paid   just my MOT next Saturday and job done for another year.
