I also know for a fact its cheaper to tell them its parked on the street rather than a garage or private drive.
You don't know this for a fact because it depends on the post code you're in. It most definitely is NOT cheaper at my address to tell them that my car isn't garaged over night, its even more expensive to tell them it's parked on the road.

Did you go online or call them?

What was the difference I premium if you opted for £250 excess ?

I got an online quote via confused.com and then rang to see if I could get the price down further - I failed miserably :headbang:

The £500 excess is compulsory and cannot be reduced.

I was told that this was standard on the Z4M

My best quote so far is with Aviva, I've tried Adrian flux with their hard selling of trying to force a commitment within seconds, I won't and never done that. Quote from L.V who want £700 excess and £199 for windscreen excess. No chance of my custom. Waiting to hear from Chris knott, offices only open Monday to Friday, sounds a joke especially as most insurances open over the weekend to even if it a limited time. Also waiting a result from classic car insurance. We shall see, watch this space

I got an online quote of £450 with £150 compulsory excess and zero voluntary from a company called 1st Central. And that's with 15,000 miles a year - anyone else used them before ? I'll be giving them a call this week.

Cheers Sp33dy1, let us know how you get on as the reviews are quite good more recently, maybe they've upped their game.

What has the Admiral issue been? I have only spoken to them on renewals so can not comment on their accident processing. Once you get a Scottish call centre, they seem to know what they are doing. I put the phone down when I get switched through to India though as that is too painful an experience.

Finalised my insurance quotes and having a long talk to 1st central with an even longer wait on the phone. I was given a fairly good price, however warning bells started after not receiving a confirmation email. When I spoke to a rep over the phone I had to restart the quote because their system lost the initial one. I asked rep to forward the quote by email so I could make an intelligent decision, was told the company doesn't do that. But I would receive my policy through email should I take the opportunity. How could I trust that system if they lost the quote in the first place? I was concerned that if I didn't receive anything to prove insurance then that hold road fund license which ultimately stops the car being collected. Treat this company with caution.

Adrian flux staff are to hard selling wouldn't give me time too decide even though they were too high priced, they wanted nearly £400 per annum plus £700 excess for a claim.

Although when I first requested a quote through Chris knots they gave me a figure I wasn't happy with. After a lot of confirmation they agreed a sum £300 fully comprehensive with a total £300 excess. Well done Chris knotts

I agree with speedy239 that insurance companies and brokers taking the p.....s. Now been asked for copy of my license which I declined but due to non provide of said item they refuse to proceed, how's this data protection?
