Car hire in the USA

My wife and are thinking of spending our wedding anniversary in the US and we will want to hire a car.

With no offence meant to any Americans the hire companies ideas of luxury/convertible do not quite align with ours. We hired (rather it was offered as an upgrade) a Chrysler Sebring convertible in Sicily last year and it was the worst and ugliest car I have ever driven or seen; its only redeeming feature was the satnav and its seductive Italian temptress.....

Ww would like to hire something like a BMW 335/325 or perhaps even a Z4 (but that might not cope with our luggage). Has anyone any experience of hiring such vehicles (we would be starting and finishing our trip in Boston, MA) and/or recommend a company?

Don't know if you can get a BMW, but some companies do hire Cadillac (you'll like the CTS) or Lincoln. I've always used Hertz but don't know if there's a great difference between them.

Hertz at Boston Logan has Volvos, Infinities and Lincolns.
Avis has Cadillac CTS, Corvettes, Mustangs

If you search for the airport website, they usually have a page for car rentals and you can search for what's there.

Smokin, I agree that is pretty much the options to the best of my knowledge as well...

I rented a BMW 328 in Orlando last year. You can find nice cares to hire, but be prepared to pay for it. The major rental companies charge around $600-$1000 per week for a premium or convertible rental. Try searching http://www.orbitz.com tor http://www.travelocity.com to compare multiple companies at once.

Just get a Mustang - It may only be a V6 but at least its got some pedigree, reputation and makes you feel like you're in America. We had one and it was a bit of a dog, but we loved it to bits :)

Doesn't have to be the V6. I know they also rent a 500hp Mustang (Hertz???). A real rip-snorter.

I had a mustang convertible last year in California - wasn't the most fun car to drive but I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it. I've been a mustang fan since my early years. Rented it from Hertz
