Car Gone to Sleep for Winter!

As I don't have a garage I usually put the car away for the Winter months. I have a mate who has a nice warm double garage that he doen't use so the car will be there and only come out once a fortnight for a bit of exercise. :D

I will bring her out at the end of January for a week in the Lake District. Missing her already :cry:
 
Mine lives outside all year long (too much crap in the garage) and gets driven everyday regardless of weather conditions :driving: .
 
Everybody’s use of a car is different. If it was bought as an everyday driver, well then of course use it everyday. If you plan on buying a new car in the near future, again drive away. I replace my daily driver cars every 3 or 4 years. If I get a rock chip or scratch at the Mall, on that car, no big deal. But I like to keep the Zed looking as close to new as I can. I am not going to sell it for many years, if ever. I have fun just going into the garage, polishing, and doing little maintenance things on it. I can honestly say it looks better and drives better than when I bought the car. There are few if any dings or scratches. I want to keep it that way. In 20 years it will still look as good as it does today. I hope I am around as long. I use it on sunny days all year round for fun, not shopping or transporting gardening supplies, or building supplies etc. The Zed is as close to a sports car that I can get these days. If it were a coupe, it would just be another car, but it isn’t. I am still sorry I sold my MG to buy a motor home, even though it was a piece of crap, I lived it. :)

IIRC he has something else for using through the week so I suppose it makes a bit of sense if the garage is available and free.

Put a float charger on it to keep the battery alive.
 
Well it's only going away for a couple of months! I won't get to use it through the week so it makes sense to use the garage.
 
Mine too - took it for a spin Saturday as the snow we had the week before was mostly gone and the roads were clear and dry.

If there is a nice day with dry roads during the winter I might drive it, but otherwise it's away until spring. :(
 
I'm thinking of putting mine away for the recession.. and sleeping in it, until things brighten up.
 
mines away for winter also, but my car is and was always intended for a weekend car, ive got my everyday shitter for the daily grind, and with some of the places i work im only too glad to have that luxury!! i personally wouldnt have it any other way, plus with the way things are atm, i'll be keeping this car alot longer than i originally planned.

Agreed. It's not like we live somewhere like Canada! :P
My Z4 lives outside all weather and gets driven in all weathers. I do have an old 4x4 though if it gets too icy or there is snow (very rare!).

Enjoy the car and stop looking after it so much for the next owner! :poke:
 
I had mine out today and it took me 45 mins to get up my driveway because of sheet ice!! I was only driving it as the wife has taken my Forester to work as it's safer. I think now i'll not take it out until it's fine and dry with NO ice !! i'll need to clean it now so i'll do that then put it away until at least March. The weather in the north is a lot different !!

Keep it nice, put it away !
 
Hardest frost and icy conditions so far this year this morning near me!!

Followed a black Lamborghini Gallardo into to town on the way to work!! And it was covered in grime and salt!!!

And there's some of us putting a Z4 away for the winter!! :P



Mind you, I didn't use my Z4 this morning!! :lol:
