car going into garage tomorrow

So i bought my z4 from a abarth dealership and im taking it back tomorrow because...

theres quite a regular high pitch squeak/squeal when breaking, and if driving slow next to a wall or a parked cars, you can hear the echo of what sounds like a grinding noise

these noises seem to come from the back (both sides)

I can reproduce the grinding noise, but the squeal is hit and miss... my question is, if i cant identify it to them, are they still required to look at it, and has anyone had this problem? so maybe i can point them in the right direction...

ps. not 100% sure but i think the squeal only happens when they breaks are cold (wet or dry)

well it ended up going in friday evening, they said it was ready monday night but i couldnt get there until tuesday morning

picked it up tuesday morning, happy as larry, got down the road and the problem was still there so i took it straight back

they where nice enough to put one of their service guys in the car with me to try and detect the noise, so i thought id put the roof down so we can hear better, but no, the roof wasnt working

tuesday night, roof fixed and breaks as brakes should be. not happy about repeat journeys but at least its sorted now :)

Was it a stone caught inbetween a disc and pad? I had that happen to me and sounded like I was throttling a weasel!

nope, apparently it was the shoes for the handbrake where sticking and not going fully into the release position so on each revolution it would rub a little (the friction noise)

once this was fixed the squeal from braking disappeared too

the roof magically started to work again :/ weird
