Car Covers

I'm looking to buy a cover for my Z4 over winter, not as good as a garage obviously but I figure it'll go some way to helping, can also use it through the week in summer to stop the cats sitting on the roof!

I know they come up on here sometimes, is it worth holding out for an official one or are the third party ones any good? They range from £30 - £300 - somewhere in between would be ideal.

I'm assuming they're fairly quick to put on / take off? Any advantage to going for a roof only cover rather than a full one?

I was just thinking about a half cover for my Coupe. Just get so fed up clearing the frost and snow off the windows I thought it might make the winter a bit more bearable.
I'd need some advice on the water proof / number of layers etc.
I figured the half cover would be far easier to whip off and store.

Had a bad experience with 3rd party one off fleabay.

Marked up as suitable for z4,poorly fitted, one gust of wind and off it went.

Be careful.

For me these are the best covers I have used, used them on Z3,S and my Z4....

I'm after a full one so the likes of the Carbrio Shield is no good.

Just ordered one off eBay for £40 which will do until an OEM one pops up on here. It'll be in my back yard so if requires a few extra straps or whatever to hold it down it's not a biggy.

Don't want to hijack your post but for interest. . .

I use a 'Just Roadster' half cover - it's waterproof and light, easy to put on and comes in a waterproof zip up case (4 by 8 by 10 inches) that I use to keep it in the boot. For me it is used every night when I park up outside on the drive - I'm hoping to keep water out of the roof motor (we shall see). It has black elasticated pockets for the wing mirrors and elastic straps which I pull around the front of the car under the number-plate holder and the rear ones which I take around the back under the rear wheel arch - it's simple and takes no time to put on and take off. I've nothing to do with the company but for £50 it has given me some piece of mind for the last year.

:driving:

Edit that above post - the classicaddition one looks good and for half the price.

Ill place an order tomorrow I think. Pissing down here tonight :(

The classic addition looks a lot thinner and I'd rather not have straps running over my paintwork.

The risk of scratching if the body work had a bit of grit between it and the strap, it's not worth the saving in my opinion.

I have a full winter cover for sale. Used for 2 months in Sept and October this year and then I sold the car.
PM me if interested.

Yup, many years ago my 4 week old new car. Bought a cover for it even though I was using the car most days. Took the cover off stored it in the shed for a few days, took it out unfolded and fitted to the car as I pulled it over the roof flat a stone/piece of grit must have got inside it. Upon removing a meter long scratch had appeared :o Roof needed a full paint :!: I would go for fully waxed car and regularly cleaning unless storing the car for a few months with no use.
