Car covers? What do you use? Where did you get it?

I'm looking for a car cover for the Z.

I have another generic car cover I can use, but looks like I won't be able to sell my other car (my very first car  ) before winter. Hence, I'm considering to get a cover for the Z instead of leaving the other car uncovered.

So, I'm looking for suggestions for car covers and where to get them. Are the OEM BMW ones good / worth the money? Alternatives?

Thanks.

I use the weathershield heavy duty.I got it from carcovers,I have been using it for 3 years,It's waterproof,uv proof, and custom made for the Z4.Has mirror pockets and all the goodies.I keep mine outside all the time,it's a 2003 30i and everyone that comments on it has asked if it has been garage kept.Best cover on the market hands down, made by noah i think about $300

I use the car cover which only covers the top/windshield. I had bought a regular one that covers the whole car but it the end it was too much of a hassle to keep doing it every day at home/work. Think the worst part is that if you put it on your car while it's dirty, the next time you put it on after you've washed it, it gets dirty again.

After that I purchased the smaller one which is a little less work to deal with. Mainly got it to just keep the top clean.

$139.95 - Comes in 8 different colors.

I bought a BMW version and took it back after one night. It was windy and the thing flapped about leaving areas of bodywork needing to be machine polished, it was strapped down as well as it could be but this has put me off having one though i do keep my car outside all year and i would like to use one if this didn't happen.

The one I talked about above is fitted with elastic c0vers the wheels has a tie down and has been through 3 Nor-easters and two close hurricanes.
does not flop around

Thx for all your suggestions... mine will be winter stored in the garage... but getting the all weather ones might still be a good idea.

So, sounds like the OEM BMW ones aren't too special, and for the same price, might as well get something else?!

I purchased one from roadster solutions - http://www.z3solution.com/
It was well put together, fitted and it had the foam inserts for the doors. My absolute favorite.
After it got stolen outside of my house, I checked Craigslist and purchased the BMW OEM one for $40.
Tighter fit, didnt have the foam panels but made from the same weather resistant material. Not a bad buy.

I also use the weathershield cover. I do not have the heavy duty. It is garge kept and covered. The only time that it is outside is when we go to Florida for 3 months. I keep it covered at all time except when it is dirty. Of course then I wash it and put the cover back on. What is nice about Weathershield is there warranty. I had my cover for 3 years and this year it didn't seem to hold the water. I called them and sent it back to them and they sent a brand new cover. This new cover seems to be a different material and fits tighter than my first one.I will be using it outside this year when I get to Florida. Also any body from Florida that wants to get together for a ride let me know. We will be Palm Harbor area.
