Car Boot Sale

Gearing up for our house move next month, so off to do a car boot sale (not in the Zed) tomorrow morning.

Any tips for a successful sale?

Refuse to accept offers from the dealers who are, like vultures', the first on the scene - nothing worse than selling something, then finding it on the other side of the field at twice the price you sold it for!
Don't be bullied into selling something for less than you think it's worth - there's always another day or E-Bay.
Keep an eye on your cash bag.
Put all your small 'nickable' items at the back of the table, otherwise they can 'falll' into open shoopibg bags.
Don't panic if you get a crowd surrounding the back of your car as you're unloading - tell them to wait until you are ready and set up.
Don't do it on your own - unless you have eyes in the back of your head.

Best of luck - let us know how you get on?

I've been meaning to do one since end of last year, did two a couple of years ago and they were good fun (and profitable), one I made £200, the other I made £35 lol. A bit like eBay it's a case of hitting the right time with the right buyers and weather etc.

I agree with Scorpian's comments. I go with a view that what doesn't sell goes to the charity shop though as I tend to sell more valuable stuff on eBay (larger market). For me car boot is a method of clearing out so while I drive hard bargain, none of it is technically worth anything to me.

I find clothes sell VERY well btw my tip for you!

Don't leave it until the last minute for the heavy stuff... especially anything that needs to be sold on fleabay.

You'd be surprised how much some of the house clearance people will pay for stuff - trick is if u have a few things to sell, get them round to only buy a max of one or two items. When they are there AND after u have agreed a price for the first two, get yr misses to say do we really need this... Do we really need that... slowly going through everything you need to clear and make it look like you are doing THEM a favour...

I made about £300 for getting rid of my cr@p

Learn any number of Eastern European languages and when they offer you less increase the original price by at least 50%. Take plenty of Carrier Bags as even an item ass small as a pen will rquire a seperate bag. Also Loads and Loads of change because you can bet that the first 20p item you sell they will offer up a 20 pound note!!! :headbang: Best of luck.
