Car Body Shops around SE London

Anybody had any experience with these guys? They look quite a good setup and after receiving a quote from ChipsAway for £150+vat on my wheel arch scratch, I've taken IK's advice and studied the 'numerous stonechips' present meaning a full bumper off sapphire black respray could be preferable.

They're are in Catford and Beckenham, both fairly close to me.

Chips Away called back as they had a 'last minute cancellation' and offered to do it today for £100 + vat. Turned them down as couldn't make it plus I'm gravitating towards full bumper respray.

KDS in Gillingham got back to me and want £325+vat for full bumper off respray.

Just awaiting estimates back from The Paint and Body Shop and another place over in Charlton. Will update when prices in and hopefully it can help somebody else out in the south east.

Next up; Stephen James, Blackheath - just emailed me a price of £150+vat for corner SMART repair done on site and same day. Not as bad as I thought and the 'official' option.

You don't want to touch smart repairs, full stop.

I have used gold motors in peckham before, they're also in Croydon but I can't speak for that shop. I was impressed with the quality and if you offer to pay cash they're quite reasonable.

Alternatively, a bit further away, I know of a place called "Autocrash" over by reading, and know the guy through another forum.

The quality of his work is second to none and you can have a courtesy 107 whilst he does your car.

I think it'll be approx £250 to paint the whole front bumper with him, I can pass you on if you'd like?

Thanks  I'll check out Gold Motors. Autocrash sounds good too although may be a little far for me.

I'm going to use him (autocrash) to repaint my spare front bumper, I've only seen about 8 things from him, but the quality of his work is beyond amazing. The finish is just superb.

Update: so the latest is that I've not heard from any other body-shops since my estimate requests yesterday but BMW Blackheath have been very helpful, friendly and accommodating. Given that the price with them for a bumper repair and SMART respray is £180 all in and thats a lot less than Chips away were quoting, I'm going to go with them. I've declared my worry over a good finish and paint match and they've given me assurances that it will be a top notch job.

Keep your fingers crossed for me, but hopefully all will be well with the Black Widow by the end of the day tomorrow

Well I'm £180 lighter in the pocket and haven't even had the 335 a week yet but Stephen James BodyShop look to have come through for me. Great job and good as new. Plus she's washed and valeted :)

Sorry could not resist - but I should also admit that the front nearside bumper of my Zed has a similar scrape due to a similar experience with my Zed vs a fence post I was parking up against

Was that for a bumper off, rub down - proper job and then spray up??
In an ideal world, although I suspect it was bumper on, rub down - proper job and spray up. Luckily Sapphire Black is quite easy to get good results with.
