Car alarm!!

Evening all!!

Ok so for the past 2-3 days the car alarm, which is ridiculously pathetic and annoying will just go off randomly shortly after parking up!!

Tried removing all stuff from the interior to see if it was cabin sensors playing up but no it still just goes off..

It is fairly windy tho lately so would that be a possibility?

Or could it be a flat battery?

This is definately with a 99% certainty a bonnet sensor problem. I had the same thing, if you want a short term fix open up your bonnet and simply pull out the wiring from the sensor, the sensor is located right in the middle of your engine bay right at the back where your windscreen is it's in the middle between where the two strut braces meet.

But a new sensor is around £8 if you fancy replacing it... very simple DIY job, unscrew old one, replace, plug in job done.

I'll upload a picture if you require?

mine likes to go off on windy rainy nights. need to sort out the bonnet sensor as others have pointed out. In the meantime pressing the lock button twice on windy days helps as that turns off some of the offending sensors.

If you lock your car by putting the key in and turning it (not using buttons) it doesn't set alarm (this trick saved my ass)

Well after going out to check where this sensor was.. Kind of found the problem.. The bracket which it stands on was majorly 'on the piss'

After using a little bit of OCD straightening making sure its perfectly straight! Hopefully the problem will be solved!

I sometimes think of the first person who had to work out it was the bonnet sensor... thus helping everyone who followed.

Not sure there are many on here who haven't changed theirs
