I am having problem locking and unlocking my car door. I have two keys and both keys are not working. I can open the door manually with the key and I can unlock the passenger door with the central lock push button near the Hand brake. My fuel filler door works fine. I have done some research and I am thinking that it's the GM5 module. What do you guys think the problem is?

Thank you!

Just got a reply back from the Scott (BMWGM5.com) gm5 repair guy and he said that it sounds line the remotes are bad.

I don't think the key fobs are the problem, how can both keys failed on the same day. I think there is something with the receiver in the car. Its not picking up the signal from the key fob.

I would have said the GM5 module as well. Mines has played up once, but only when it was really cold. Next time I tried it (not the same day) was fine and has been ever since.

i've literally just sent my keyfob away to get the battery replaced thinking it was just those dying but the cold weather and it being so intermittent for the unlocking , think it's this myself after coming across it on youtube last night... f**k sake

think the Z4 is heading for a summer sale worst car i've owned for piddly things going wrong with it...i say, on my way out at 8am to try fix the drivers wiper arm

It's a 13 year old car - I don't think some TLC is unreasonable to expect.

TLC is fine, resistors burning out , and design flaws like the hood motor, cracking springs etc etc is a different story, none of which are age related.

In fairness the motor was modified for the facelift (though still flawed and yes, no mod for the pre facelift). The springs are junk but that's not just a Z4 issue - when buying one I'd have budgeted to change them if mine hadn't already come with Eibachs, much the same as I budgeted to 'de-runflat'.
If those are the only issues you've had then fix them and enjoy for the next 10 years :driving:

I have done more troubleshooting and research. I am leaning more toward the FZV antenna amp. I think it's located inside the rear view mirror. I would like to remove it anfrom see if I can fix it or send it out to get it repair. Does anybody here have any experience removing the FZV amp?
