Can't find oil check button on 2005 Z4

Apologies in advance for the stupid question but I can't activate the oil check on my 2005 z4.

I've held down the rightmost button on the dash as indicated in the manual below but instead of seeing the oil level the clock starts flashing.

What gives, is it broken or am I doing something wrong?

I'm guessing new owner?
For a 2005 z4 you should have a dipstick on your car under the hood.
If you do have a facelift, just pressing the button you refer to once is good enough. Instead of holding it

On the assumption you have a facelift car, the engine must be running, press the right hand button briefly and oil check will start. You get a little clock sometimes, this means it will take a while to do. Important thing is engine running NOT off.

I find with mine that it needs to have been running for a while too before it give a reading

OK start at the beginning please.. What model what engine
Unless of course it's a new series of " guess what car I've got"

If the OP has a 2005 car it won't be a facelift, so it will have a dipstick rather than the button on the dash.

The manual in his link seems to be from 2007, so that is probably for facelift cars which didn't come along until 2006.

thats what im thinking - but as he hasnt even told us what engine, cus thr 2005 2.0 has digital and the 3.0 has a real dipstick, oh the suspense............
still, could be worse, if it was my wife she would have said.. my car is a silver one.. :wink:
