Cant find bonnet sensor switch...

... can someone tell me where its hiding please?

The 'Bonnet open' warning keeps coming on but the bonnet is closed, so just going to test the switch by unplugging it. Damned if I can find it though.

2013 E89

This is the only thing I can find - http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=LL32-EUR-06-2013-E89-BMW-Z4_20i&diagId=41_1887 Hope it helps :)

Not sure on the E89, but on the E85 it's slap bang in the middle just in front of the bulkhead.

Mike

Edit: Looks like it's part of the nearside lock assembly.

Mine pinged at me after having the bonnet up for cleaning the other day. I don't think I closed it with enough gusto. Opening and reclosing it with a good push did the trick.

Just had another good look, including middle of strut braces and nothing anywhere! Resorted to a good slam... see if that works tomorrow. Just I hate slamming anything.

Maybe it's hidden underneath the catches or something like that. It's going into BMW in a week or so to sort the last remaining dash rattle and a rear light filling with water and the creaking air on controls.... so they can do this one while their at it. Won't bother telling them about the exhaust butterfly not working though as I quite like the sound on start up.

3 year factory warranty ran out last weekend, lucky I'm still on the AUW otherwise I'd be paying for this lot.

First time I saw this I had taken the release lever off to get at the right speaker in the foot well.
Bad memory but I think there are wires to the release handle. Once I had reassembled the handle the warning went away.

WRT the E85, I believe that's only the sensor for the alarm. If you don't have an alarm, you won't have that sensor. I wasn't aware the E89 had a sensor to detect if the bonnet was open/closed, but you live and learn...

Yes, there is an electrical connector on that latch... didn't see that before, ill have another look tonight. Might explain things if the bonnet isn't exactly level as it goes down - bonnet rubbers not adjusted properly or something like that.
