Can't drive my Zed and am missing the fun!

Well, on what seems to be one of the best weekends so far this year I haven't driven my Zed at all, and I won't be for a while either :(

Got taken to hospital last week with a Pilonidal Cyst, they operated on Thursday and I now have a circa 4cm hole in my arse which has been left open and is getting packed with gauze every day. I can safely say that I've never experienced anything as uncomfortable as this, the day to day pain is acceptable, the pain on having the gauze pulled out and refreshed is awful

It will be at least 2 - 3 weeks before I drive the Zed again, and the same amount of time before I'm back at work, this condition definitely messes your life up!

For those who don't know what causes them:-
*White males aged up to mid-twenties
*Work in a sit down job
*Drive cars with hard suspension

I fit all three criteria :(

Anyway, this is a good excuse for me to bring forward my second car search, looks like an E39 Auto waft-mobile will be the order of the day :)

Also, who wants a pic of the wound posting up?

My best mate had one of those...not a zed! Hope you get better soon bud, there is going to be plenty more weekends like we just had and they'll probably be better :)

 sorry, shouldnt laugh - I concur, they are painful (speaking from personal  and professional experience!).

However it should heal up much faster than you are expecting and you will be back in your zed before you know it

BTW get yourself a rubber ring to sit on while it heals!

oh, and I think you mean abscess rather than cyst... :poke:
Actually pilonidal cyst is perfectly acceptable nomenclature.

Usually happens in people with hairy bottoms - it's the hair that's the problem.
So one solution if you want to drive cars with hard suspension is to have....
.....the back, sack and crack treatment. ;)

it may be acceptable, but, if it contained pus I think that 'abscess' is a more accurate term :fuelfire:

Thanks guys!

Don't worry by the way, my butt isn't hairy so the only disturbing thing about the picture is my extra hole. I must say you disappoint me, over at Pistonheads a picture was demanded lol.

Well the temptation has been removed anyway, she's just been driven away by the dealers to get the dodgy brakes fixed for the MOT. I suppose that's one more reason that I couldn't have done the North Wales Meet in her now that I think about it!

So your guardian angel gave you a pain in the butt to stop you killing yourself with dodgy brakes?

Lol, I suppose that's one way to look at it, although I honestly wouldn't have come on a meet with such badly imbalanced brakes (50% out on the front), I think I'd just forgotten about the problem with the car due to not driving it and a healthy combination of painkillers :D

Well she's back with another new calliper and has passed her MOT :D

One very happy bunny, for all I still can't manage to drive her!

sorry to hear that mate. the worst thing i've ever had is a dislocated arm which prevented me from driving for 1 month and had to have rehab afterwards as my arm was in a sling for the whole time and all the muscle on my arm had virtually died from not being used for a month.

lol at the fact it only effects white males being mocha myself :poke:

get well soon :D

ok - I wasn't expecting that level of detail & info when i read this thread!! :o

hope all is well soon and you are back behind the wheel pronto

No cyst pics please.... Lucy, you are BAD !!!

I drove my cars sitting on a pillow for years, the seats are too f'ing hard in the old Zeds for anything over two hours. Just lower the seat an inch and pop a pillow under there. ....or wait another two weeks

(I get mine back today, no cyst fortunately, just a broken valve spring)
