Cant believe the price drops

It's not just the ///M market that the bottom's fallen-out of. I bought my 3.0i 2 years ago and it's depreciating more than the £160.00 a month I'm paying off the loan

So the ///M trade-up is still a big leap.

If you have got a Z4 Coupe keep it as it will eventually be a collectors item and increase in value. Re part ex it does'nt matter what car you have it's always the wrong one in a dealers opinion , unless of course they are selling it

Well it won't get any better with these bigger engines I'm afraid, with fuel prices set to rocket again this year people just won't be as interested as they were. It will obviously bottom out but who knows where..... :(

I totally agree.

I was offered £9.4k for my M Roadster against a 2008 Audi TT Diesel from an Audi main dealer...Only enquiring, honest!!

The main problem comes from dealers perceiving anybody selling a car with high road tax and running costs to be on their backside and desperate to sell. There is nothing in the near future that will change the situation.

Remember, the PX price is only relevant if you have to sell. In the meantime ENJOY !

if you keep it long enough it will eventually be worth more that you paid for it, look at old cars such as mgb's and the like

By which time we will be dead or won't be able to afford the petrol required to run them so making them worthless. :(

When we bought the 2.0 Z4 I was surprised they were cheaper than the 3s. I prefer to own a cheap car anyway, it stops you worrying.

I think the Zeds may bottom out at around 3-4k, same as the original SLKs. The coupes will most likely go slightly lower. Same as the MGBs are more desireble than MGB GTs The roadsters will retain more appeal to Sunday drivers and collectors.

Tempting as a second and faster Zed is I have been watching the CLS 55 AMG prices. They are not dropping as fast as I would like. This colour in particular.

They'd have to pay me an awful lot more than £9.4k to persuade me to have an Audi TT Diesel !

I went out for a quick spin in the M today after I had my paintless dent removal done. Honestly, it's an absolute joy. I love it, love it, love it. The only car (within reason) I'd be tempted to swap it for would be a 997.1 GT3 (can't afford Gen 2).

I jsut sold mine yesterday to a friend of my brother... Imola Red Coupe, 06 reg, 2nd owner after being a press car at BMW UK, 49k, FBMWSH and BMW Extended Warranty, Inspection II done 4k miles ago, Porsche 4-pot brakes all round, decent tyres, gloss black alloys. Bluetooth, PDC, extended storage and alu trim. MOt till June 2012 and tax till Aug 2012. Needed about £500 spent on the bodywork to remove some dents and stone chips...

Considering that www.westealyourcar.com offered me £8.75k, what do you think I got for it?

A bit better than that... But faced with the choice of asking £14k for it, after sorting the bodywork, and then fielding numerous calls from the "what would you take for cash today?" brigade, while it continues to drop in value without even being driven, I elected to cut my "losses". Moreover, the superb and loaded sepang bronze car on Pistonheads for £12.9k that did not sell for a month really opened my eyes...

Being asset rich and cash poor when you are buying a house is never a good thing, having space for only 3 cars in the new house is even worse. Spending £2k per year on the Z4MC before it even turns a wheel was what made me do it... Otherwise, it was definitely one of the best cars that I have ever owned... Will be back for another one, to strip and turn into a proper track slag when they drop below £10k. Looking where E46 M3s are at the moment, unfortunately this is suddenly quite possible :(

So what did you sell it for out of interest? lol

I think also, re a comment further back, that the Coupes will hold their money a little stronger than the Roadsters, M or otherwise. There are far more Roadsters produced, and available on the market than the Coupes, which will make them a rarer find. Especially as mileage and condition deteriorates generally across the market.

Either way - the prices aren't going to go back up anytime soon, for all the reasons mentioned in the last 3-4 pages...

Very glad I took mine out of the BMW network for servicing, £1000 for an inspection II is ridiculous when they are worth so little. Holding onto mine, its still an amazing car and I'm still struggling to find the right car to replace it with.

£12k

It is an amazing car and there is nothing for the money to replace it, but when you have an E61 M5 and a Porsche which will hit 0-60 in 3.9sec and have just bought a house, it gets really hard to justify it as a toy, given that all my other cars, 540i AT excepted, are toys in one way or another.

Don't base any comparisons around that as it is a cat D.
