Have a loaner while my ABS/ESP pump is being replaced...

A one week old M-sport 1 series in m-sport guise...and I actually really quite like it! Comfortable, handles well, quiet and looks nice!

Torquey diesel attached to a very smooth auto box that was a dream to be stuck in traffic in on way home post my night shift this morning. If only the roof came off.

Had one of those when car went to dealer last time for a couple of days - was disappointed in it for various reasons, plus looks a bit like a boat...

it was this one in fact:

Other than the looks i agree with you, i drove the old model & i was very surprised i loved it!

It does look purposeful with the M sport bodykit on it...i wouldnt mind a M135i

The M sport body kit goes some way to forgiving the sneezy front end... But not enough IMO.

SWMBO really likes the coupe, though 2 convertibles is impractical, so tin top version. What didn't you like about the coupe ?

The M sport front end looks reasonably good from a distance, just a shame that close up it's still a bit of a pig.

Nice looking car though, the diesel for a daily driver certainly makes sense

I've got a 120D M-Sport as a daily and the only thing I dislike about it is the lack of an LSD, although that's become less of a problem now I have the Z4.

Otherwise, it's brisk, handles like a hot hatch, but with the bonus of being RWD. Fuel seems to last for ages and the car's narrow enough to allow me to pick my line when zipping down small country lanes. I've really grown to love my 1 series.

As long as the 2.0 diesel is combined with the auto box it is great, however because the engine is gutless at low rpm, the manual I found to be pants when compared to a 3.0l Zed

A diesel gutless at low RPM? That's the only place that diesels have power. I agree that diesels do need an auto box, the low revving nature means that in the manual you are constantly rowing through the gears around town or in traffic. No second gear starts in a diesel and 1st is only good for getting the car rolling the first meter or 2. A good dual clutch auto is a dream in a diesel if you commute in traffic.

I've grown to really like the new 1 series. I'm seriously thinking about a 125i as a do it all car. The difference between the new and old version of the 1 series is incredible, especially inside. We had a 2006 1 series and I hated it. The coupe and convertible is still the old shape. If the hatch is anything to go by then the new convertible/coupe will be great if a bit of a munter. They'll do a M135i version though and it will be rather good.

Yes exactly - one of the things that I didnt like about the 1 conv I had - diesel manual - constantly changing gear if wanted to make any kind of progress.

they may drive nice but they are really fugly looking cars and as such, i would stay away from it like most cars i am looking at right now
