Candy green MV2!!

#####PICS ON CAR PAGE 3 #####

My girlfriend's mum bought my old z last year and I said I'd refurb the wheels for her as they couldn't have been in worse condition. (They were powdercoated btw) she insisted she wanted them to be green and after many an attempt to change her mind I gave up, but under my terms. I've never used candy before and I want to use it on my bike so I thought I'd experiment on these:

After sandblasting

They were primed, rubbed down then painted silver

About 4 coats of candy green applied

Then 3 coats of clear.20130919_152321_zps77fe37b9.jpg

I will get pics on the car where they're on but what do you think?
They won't suit the car I know but I love the colour! Will definitely be playing with more candy colours in the future.

I will but I've only finished 2 wheels! Shall finish the other 2 today and maybe refit tomorrow with caution. They tyres are on with beads broken to avoid scratching but allow me to paint right under the edge of the rim.

Looks like you've done a really good job of them, and it's a great colour

What colour is the car ?

Thanks! They really were a nightmare to work with. Just shows that powdercoating isn't necessarily better than painting. Ive never seen paint lift away from the metal like that. The car is black sapphire. Same as my new one :) but the old M wheels won't be as in your face as these. Not my cup of tea on a Z haha.

thats a lovely colour, but on a wheel, it sure will shout look at me....good work btw

Haha I completely agree! Although it should suit my bike where it shouting 'look at me' is sort of the point  and thanks btw

Isn't Project Marmite going to be this colour :poke:

Personally, I'd love to try a candy red - or one of the Standox Exclusive line flip paints (Magic Magenta or Shifting Carbon).

Shifting Carbon

They all look good tbh definitely deeper and more vibrant. I'd like something more subtle on mine. Maybe anthracite base with a deep blue or purple candy. We'll see, will be experimenting to see what results I get. Jumping the gun a bit as I need to finish fixing the car 1st and get it on the road!

Thanks everybody :) I'm no pro this is diy! You should give it a try. Just about to put the last coat of clear on the other 2 wheels then they're done :)

I am really impressed with the quality of finish you have achieved, although it wouldn't be my choice of colour.

Well done
