Can you solve the puzzle?

Hi, the handle fell off my glove compartment today... has this ever happened to anyone before. Nothing seems to have broken. The handle and a spring fell off as seen below...

Can you see where the spring should go or how this should fit back together?

Yeah, happend to me.

If I remember rightly there are 2 roll pins in either side of that second photo that work themselves back allowing the handle to drop off. you just need to push them back while holding the handle in the place to stop it falling off again.

I can't remember 100% which way the spring fits, but Im pretty sure you fit it over the small diameter (the roll pins are inside of these diameters and can be pushed from the other ends) on the other side of that aperture just like the spring that is still in place.
 
yup, has happened to me too.

Err cant remember what way round it went.

Easiest option is to open the box, unscrew the latch unit, fiddle around with the handle, spring and latch then re-fit.

It makes sense when you can see all the bits in front of you
 
I can't tell you how to fit the puzzle together. What I can tell you is that when I was looking to buy a second hand Z4 I bought a used car magazine that happened to have an article about buying a used Z4. One of the things they said to watch out for was the glove compartment handle. It said they very often break. In fact, when I bought mine, the handle was broken so I guess they were right.
 
Cool, thanks guys... think i might try remove the compartment door and refit the handle then, thanks again for your help
 
you dont have to remove the entire flap.

you can just open it. un-do the two screws that hold the latch unit in and are on the inside face.

the latch unit just drops off the outside face then.

IIRC!!
