Can you repair a run-flat?

Got a nail in my barely used rear tyre, guy said you can't repair run-flats? My mate reckons you can though? What is the score on this one, any info would be appreciated.

Annoying as like I say its a nearly new tyre, £240 worth.

I'm sure if you ring around enough places you'll find some one that will take you money. The main thing is not to drive to much with the flat tyre.

I have a good run flat tyre in my garage that i no longer need. It has 4-5mm of tread on it and is the 255 size for rear wheel 108 alloys of staggered fitment.

Cover the postage and you can have it. You will need to get it fitted though, best done by a proper garage. Let me know either way.

Wow what a generous offer! What make model is it though? I think I really need to replace it with a like for like tyre, Bridgestone is what I have currently.

My Mum had one of the runflats on her 630 repaired after she got a puncture. That was last year i think and it's still fine now. So yes you can repair them.

You can repair them, they will tell you driving it when flat has done damage to the side walls but this is no worse then driving on a normal tyre when flat. Its because you cant see the damage to a RFT due to its thick side walls they wont repair.

So I'm thinking I just take the hit and get a new tyre, not worth the risk I guess.

Oh well no going out or dates for me this weekend then!

Hi,

I got my runflat repaired by a small garage £5 (cash in hand) This was over a year ago and the tyre has been fine. I got it repaired because I knew it had not been driven in a flat state for long. Don't think Insurance would pay out if anything ever happened because of the repaired runflat!!
