Can you recommend a speed camera detector that isn't Fugly?

Yes, my E85 sat nav disc will be different to yours, but I was referring to the disc I have in my 5-series with i-drive. However, that uses DVD, and does not have HDD, so may not suit your E89.

The other thing to check is whether you have a thermal windscreen with a metallic coating. It messes up the GPS signal something rotten. In my S-Max I need to use an external antennae and I don't think either the Snooper or Road Angel Gem have that option. The only thing wrong with my professional is the internal batteries are wearing out so I'm toying with the idea of getting both cars wired so I can transfer it between them but not have to worry about the batteries.

Hi Stuart, i checked my windshield and its not and expensive thermal shield one. also the heated front windows can play havoc with the GPS reception.

do you pay any subscriptions?

My heated windscreen is the culprit in the ford. I got a deal that Road Angel offered for owners of their first model where I got the unit and 3 years updates for the cost of the unit. Try as I might they won't offer the same deal to upgrade to the Gem, the tight arses! The best I could get was £20 off, but that only bought it down to the same price I can buy it for on Amazon. They ring periodically to try and get me to renew my subscription, maybe I'll wait until the end of the month and see if someone is behind on their quota

To be fair, apart from the batteries, it's been brilliant, and saved my bacon a few times. The beep drives the dog nuts though

I picked up one of these (Pogo Alert+) today, after having a look at the Snooper Lynx GT and Road Angel Gem in a car audio place. The Snooper by all accounts is damn annoying, insisting on beeping even when you're under the speed limit in a certain area. The Road Angel just looks cheap and nasty and certainly does NOT belong in my new car :)

The Pogo fits neatly to the right of the steering wheel on the windscreen, I didnt want to run cables so the 8+ hour battery life is a big plus. It also only beeps once when you approach a speed camera and are under the speed limit. The only thing that annoys me? The screen could have been higher res. Having to plug in to update as well, would have been nicer if it GPRS but I guess I can live with it...

Need to go visit my Accountant tomorrow, so will give it a proper run through then...

Pogo Alert is good and they have the offer of £100 off and free installation as well.

I have the origin B2 still from them and they want me to swap that for a Pogo as well (again free installation, £100 off etc). The only negative I can see with the new Pogo is the connector at the back, rather fragile from what I can see.

Other than that, it works well. I am thinking about that one for the X5 as well.

Let me know if you need me to get the discount for you of course if that is the one you want.
