Can you mix coil packs brands?

I have one failing coil pack I need to replace. I noticed on FCPEuro website, they recommend against mixing coil pack brands? Is this BS?

Also, I notice on Amazon there a lot of china coil packs going for $70 to $90 for a whole set... Good or bad idea?

Mixing isn't a problem but if one pack has failed, the others won't be far behind.

Don't get China knock-offs. If you have an N54 get a full set of Eldor, Delphi or Bosch coils, there's nothing to separate them performance wise and they will last another 6 years so you're not likely to ever need to touch them again.

I'd always change the lot, picking one is a false economy as another will fail at a critical time (usually miles away from home).

Get the best you can afford, same with spark plugs, oil etc.

If it's your daily driver, I'd keep 1 or 2 of the remaining "good" coil packs just as a back up if something falls on a Sunday evening.

Personally, I only ever keep one spare handy or in the boot if going on a long trip.

Changing all at the same time when just one fails is an absolutely pointlessly expensive exercise unless you’re happy to waste money!
