Boycotting Russian energy is like not buying cheap sh*t from China.

We have done it for years because it was cheap and suited us, not because we agreed with their moral, or political stance.

So it takes an invasion for the West (especially us) to suddenly see the light?
Remember the rationale about stuff from China. In the 70's, America opened up to them so that when "they would see our style of life and would be more prosperous, democracy will flourish in China".
That was the Republican idea. I guess we have to wait some more.
The same rationale was pushed for Russia.
And here we are.
( to your post)

There's a lot of life left in the North Sea despite what the various governments would have you believe. Shell pulled out of the vast cambo development over environmental pressure. The UK needs a reality check over the road map to sustainable fuels, and just how much we will rely on oil and gas to get there. That's another debate, but to be clear if we have the foresight we have a secure supply on our back doorstep.

 Agree with that.

Perhaps the anti frackers are sponsored by Russia …
I recall Hillary Clinton during the last US election saying they had evidence of funding from Russia for the green zealots. It would be in Russia's interest to stop fracking. Didn't work in the US but over here?

Nice! I'm on a Atlantis in Gulf of Mexico at the mo. Due home next week. Will be heading to the Barents sea in May, east coast Canada (offshore) July and onshore Alberta August, then UK North Sea September!

Is that the deep sea floating platform? I've never worked in the Gulf.

Most of my work has been in the UK or Norway, mostly Norway, thankfully.

I'm in the well services department, what about yourself?

Yep about an hr and half chopper flight south from louisiana, pretty deep out here!

I work for a part of NOV specialising in upgrades and debottlenecking process trains. I'm a Tender Manager so run the quotes team at the office, but also have my offshore certs so spend a few weeks every so often doing vessel entries to supervise internals destruct/install scopes. Makes a pleasant change from the politics of the desk job!

Yes, now bask in the moral supremacy of your betters who can afford to pay xx% more for their fuel and goods
Its just virtue signalling by the middle and upper class to the detriment of the working class.

Not really but I suspect that will change now I have the relevant us offshore qualifications! I'm hoping once I've got my Canadian quals too later in the year it'll significantly help my chances of being able to move to Canada with my family, we've been wanting to move over for years!
