There's a sticker on mine - can't remember what it says though, think it tells you which way up it goes to put it in. Not on the one in the pic. Obviously

I'm guessing that the CD changer gets installed in the compartment between the seats? Is that where the photo is?

Yes indeed.

So to sum up this is a poor picture of the standard cd changer, with the loading cover slid open and the access panel between the seats dropped forward.
