Can NE 1 identify this part?

As I am prepping my 2006 3.0i roadster for a weekend show n shine competition I noticed the part in the following photo. This pic is shot from underneath the car, it is of the rear bumper cover next to the exhaust pipes (to the right in the pic). It looks like a mini microphone/sensor. Anyone know what this is about?

Perhaps a poor bluetooth phone istall where the mechanic failed to understand the correct location of the microphone, or maybe a cunning device to pick up that sweet exhaust note and pipe it through the stere6 system.

Seriously - I have no idea, but would hazzard a guess that it's related to teh antennae that's located in the rear bumper cover.
 
I'm thinking FM ant or the GPS tracking ant your wife installed to keep track of where you go... :P
