Can I update my Intravee with a Mac laptop?

Just fitted my Intravee, and very happy with it - but presumed as I bought earlier this month direct from toysinmycar it would have the latest firmware on it, but nope, it's running 6.01 so no fun extras for me :(

I've only got a MacBook Air, which I can connect a USB / Serial cable to, but will I be able to update the firmware without it running Windows?

Hopefully in a relatively straightforward not too techy way?

I think you need a windows machine. Unless you can set up a windows virtual machine on your mac. I'm sure someone local will help out otherwise.

Think the loader is only available as an exe, no dmg version that I've seen. Would agree with Stuart that you probably need a Windows VM

Oh knickers - I'll try installing Parallels and then see if I can install XP without a DVD drive - which might prove challenging..

You shouldn't need to install Parallels, just use Bootcamp. However you will need an ISO of a windows installer CD - there are several places you can download one, legalities aside of course.

Installed Parallels trial, and made disk images of both XP DVDs and transferred them via Airdrop - Windows seems to be installing ok so far!

Yep, it worked! Serial to USB cable from Maplin (had to remove the bolt/nut things from the Intravee so it would fit)

Updated and now have working PDC display, map zoom and three blink indicators, but auto lock and auto mirror folding don't work :(

Auto mirror folding doesn't work on any zed :(

Auto lock and unlock should work fine. I've had it running on both pre and post facelift cars. Have you got the car type set to E46 type 2/z4?

Shame about the mirrors, but I'll survive!

Have got the car set to E46 type 2/z4 - will have another play tomorrow - cheers!
