Can I drive with a faulty valvetronic shaft sensor?

Hi folks,

My e89 23i has developed a hesitation on acceleration. Code pointed to the valvetronic eccentric shaft sensor and mechanic confirmed. I can get a part but I have to drive circa 450 miles in the next few days for work before we can get a part and fit it. Is it safe to drive on the motorway for that kind of distance? I'm aware fuel economy will suck but the alternative is trying to hire a car which adds a fair chunk of expense.

Thanks.

It should be ok, plenty have used the cars with faulty sensors - it just mutes the performance/economy a bit.

Thanks so much Rob, that's confirmed what I thought - so long as I'm sensible it should be fine. Appreciate your reply.
