Can i ask a stupid question re: The Boot

all very confusing :?
i have three buttons on my fob.
middle button locks the car.
top button unlocks the car.
bottom button when pressed and held releases the boot.

with the key is in the ignition slot, press the button twice and it will unlock the boot

Are you sure that you need to press the button twice?
Off the top of my head I thought if all the doors were locked if you pressed the button both doors, the boot and the fuel flap unlocked.
If you pressed it twice they would all unlock on the first press and then lock on the second press.
If one door is unlocked the first press would lock the door and then the second press would unlock both doors, the boot and the fuel flap.
Im almost positive this is how it works on ours.

Well self doubt entered my head :? ... so I got the car out of the garage this morning and drove down to my local BMW dealer to pick up some parts I had on order. Sitting in the car park and with the engine running I jumped out and tried the boot lock - ITS CLOSED.. jumped back in the car and pressed the button twice, jumped out tried the boot lock -ITS OPEN?

Yes but you already opened your car door to check the boot so the first press locks the door again first then the next press unlocks everything.
