Can i ask a stupid question re: The Boot

How do i unlock it when in the car?!

Countless times i've had a passenger that i'm dropping off who needs to get luggage out the boot.

They try to get in the boot but cannot unlock it, at this time i am in driving seat usually with the key in my pocket (Keyless entry), they can never unlock the boot until i get out and do it (assume it works as key is in my pocket?)

Confusing me! I'm sure it's something simple. i can't see a boot unlock button anywhere in the car, i've tried to use the door unlock button and that doesn't seem to work either.

No such thing as a stupid question, only a stupid answer!

Not sure you can actually unlatch if from within the car to be honest, but pressing the main lock button will unlock it to be opened from the rear

Is it not press and hold bottom button on the key fob
Not tried it from inside car, but certainly opens from outside 😳

This does work yes, just as this key is in my pocket all the time i feel their should be a button to open it like most cars :P - Maybe i'm asking to too much and will just need to get the key out my pocket, bit fiddly though

Hi, on your dashboard there is toggle switch with hazard light / unlock doors, dead centre between the air vents. Press that

That will just unlock the doors, so someone can get in, If there is a way of unlocking the boot from inside the car, I haven't found it, but there is a blank where the switch would be (as the E85), one thing I have never tried is to press the boot switch on the key when its in the car, and TBH sounds to bloody fiddly if its in the ignition

when the car is running and the key is in the ignition slot, press the button twice and it will unlock the boot

If it’s like my E87 it will unlock the boot and fuel filler also.

Off course some cars have an unlock button on the door frame. I bought the button and fitted it, but never got round to wiring it up.
Yes pushing the all unlock button opens boot, done it a few times with engine running.

Doesn't work on my 2010 35iS.
It should do. It does on my 2009 35i.
The button just unlocks the doors & boot. When you then push the boot badge the boot unlatches.

Are you sure that you need to press the button twice?
Off the top of my head I thought if all the doors were locked if you pressed the button both doors, the boot and the fuel flap unlocked.
If you pressed it twice they would all unlock on the first press and then lock on the second press.
If one door is unlocked the first press would lock the door and then the second press would unlock both doors, the boot and the fuel flap.
Im almost positive this is how it works on ours.

I have the button on the door frame, same as the E85/E86. Can't understand why it wouldn't be standard. Seems a strange thing to 'option', but if you can achieve the same thing by pressing the door lock/unlock button twice it also seems weird to have two buttons in the car that do the same thing :?

Well self doubt entered my head :? ... so I got the car out of the garage this morning and drove down to my local BMW dealer to pick up some parts I had on order. Sitting in the car park and with the engine running I jumped out and tried the boot lock - ITS CLOSED.. jumped back in the car and pressed the button twice, jumped out tried the boot lock -ITS OPEN?
