Can I access (to paint) this halo within the headlight?

I'd ideally like to refresh this halo in the headlight enclosure, as the silver is particularly bad on the other side, but I'm not sure about the viability of getting into the enclosure, and what re-sealing it would entail..

Does anybody have any experience with anything like this?

Hi Jare
I have just stripped out a halogen headlight and the projector unit and all the silver bits are removable from the rear , remove bulbs , 4 nuts and projector unit comes out. Then disconnect the leveling motor ball joint connections , then you can remove the sliver high beam reflector part. Then you can remove the silver trim ring ...be careful as they get brittle ! ....hope this helps

From my experience it's very hard to replicate a chrome colour. So get what you can, (many sprays say they are chrome, but don't meet the mark). I would however recommend doing both, as the difference will be visible.

Are those rings metal? If so is it feasible to get them chromed? I got my brake pad retaining clips chromed.

Nope, cheap plastic. A bit brittle as [ref]Southwestz4[/ref] has said.

Does it need to be chrome? does it affect the effectiveness of the bulb?

Ideally I'd like to paint it satin black, but I'm not sure if that's a stupid idea for the above reason

Jare, if you are talking about the thin silver trim around the edge of the lens opening , then that is purely cosmetic.
thanks pal, did you follow a guide for pulling the bits out of the back of the enclosure?
