CAN Bus Led lights

Hey everyone, I want to change my interior, trunk and rear plate lights with LED lights. Can anyone tell me if an 03 E85 is CAN Bus equipped?
Trying to decide on which LED T10 bulb to select. The current threads in the forum are out dated in allot of cases.

Thanks!
Steve.

Hi Steve, I love a Merlot :D .
This was one of the first things I did to my 2004 Z4. All interior lights, boot & rear number plate are all now LED. No issues with canbus at all. The kit I bought was on ebay. The only issue I had was the map lights above the rear view mirror were a little too large in diameter. A file soon sorted that out though  . I'm very happy with the end result & no issues 3 years on  .

Thanks Dave, so I don't have to worry about it? Do you recall what you purchased of Ebay?
Cheers,
Steve.

It was 3 years ago Steve & my ebay history doesn't go back that far. However I bought a kit that had all the interior bulbs to suit my Roadster. For the number plate lights & bought canbus compatible ones.

The E85 has CANBUS, but that doesn't actually help.

Some of the the lights (i.e. dipped beam) have an "bulb out" feature where the amount of current is monitored - too low and the bulb must be blown and an error light is brought up.
LEDs use so little power, they would cause this - hence "no error" LEDs which have an extra resistor to waste enough power to fool the car.
Nothing to do with CANBUS.
Alternatively, you can use "regular" LEDs and disable the monitoring via recoding using NCSExpert etc.

Not all the lights are monitored - I don't know of any car that monitors the interior lights for example.
I don't think the number plate lights are either but i'm not 100%.

No, I don't think they are.

I've only fitted LED bulbs to the boot (trunk) in my Coupes but never had a problem. And when one of my number plate lights stopped working on my previous Coupe I didn't get any warning light - just an advisory on the MOT!

Thanks everyone ! You've been better than Google!
