can anyone recommend a detailer?

Hi,

I'm wanting my e89 detailed to remove the minor scratches, swirls etc and generally bring it back to life.

Does anyone have any recommendations for someone that'll either come to the Harrogate area or is local.

Also how much should I expect to pay?

Buy the products, do it yourself and get the self satisfaction + save a pretty penny

I get great satisfaction seeing my motor prestine knowing I've done it myself

My winning combo is as follows

Iron X- blithammer clay bar- meguires ultimate compound - auto glym super resin - followed by a wax of your choice, collenite 915 for winter or R222 for the summer wet look

Less than £100 worth of products

100% satisfaction

Totally with you on the diy option, nothing is better than looking back at your car knowing it was your work. Especially when someone comments on how good it looks

I have a lot of products (poor boys) and regularly do it myself with polish, sealer, wax etc. I am however after someone to do a more thorough machine polishing to get rid of swirls and small scratches etc, so I have a better baseline to work from.

I don't have the resource or skill to know what I'm doing with a machine polisher, even if I was to buy one. So don't think it would be worth the investment and as Mr Wilks said, I think it takes someone with skill to get rid of swirls etc on a black car.

If you struggle to find someone Dom these guys have a good rep local to me & depending on what's involved will travel http://grime2shineburnley.com/

The best guy i know is Matt at Obsidian detail in Saddleworth and is only an hour away....

http://obsidiandetailing.com/

The idea of someone coming to you is ok,but anyone worth their salt wont be able to do anything in 24hrs,so travelling day to day may ramp up the prices and really good lighting is needed..

Black needs to be done very well, any imperfections of bad machining will show and if your paying the money you want it as perfect as can be..

Had a quick look. What does the z4 come under for pricing, the medium focus size or sport?

100% recommend Richard at Autovision detailing.

Seen his 3day routine with 2-stage detail on my BMW just recently and was blown away by the work ethic, effort, attention to detail, product options etc.

When my car had the pre-inspection, Richard located a smart repair plus an accident repair I didn't know about, so he pointed out areas where only light correction could be applied - so everything done safely and low risk.

All in all - it's an expensive decision but having seen the process at Autovision I still think it was a bargain in the end! Even the wax they sealed the car with was worth £100.... Never mind everything else used in the detail.
