Can anyone help me take off an OEM aerial?

hi all!

I avidly bought a short stubby aerial (before even picking up my Z4M!) thinking it would be a great first mod. The thing is I believe the previous owner may have super glued the original aerial onto the base part of the aerial fitting.....

No matter how hard I twist it doesnt come off! Any thoughts on how this could be removed? I was going to use some pliars or something strong to twist the aerial off but a little cautious I might end up twisting the base section.....

Put on a pair of rubber washing up gloves and try again. Sounds weird but they will allow you to get a better grip. I couldnt do mine with just my hands.

WD40 half an hour before u use mole grips if socks & rubbers fail

And for a car that might have spent time outside, it is normal for the aerial to seize anyway so it won't have been glued :)

I'm currently in the process of applying WD40 every other day for a week to loosen mine as it's stuck on fast :(

Had the same problem and the only way was to remove the small aerial amplifier from under the wing. It is only held on with one torx screw, leave the wiring attached to the amplifier and pull out the aerial AND base with it. Now you might be able to unscrew the aerial from the base on a bench. If not, be brutal and destroy the base. They are cheap from OEM but I have a spare if you wanted. Best of luck.

Mole Grips + kitchen sponge to cushion the grips will do it.

Thought this forum's motto would be Mole Grips + a sock

Just a word of caution when using molegrips or similar, the whole base and attached amplifier can turn as well. The base portion that fits into the wing is shaped with one a square corner, i.e. not circular.
Just make sure the base is not turning at the same time as the aerial.

I quickly gave up and bought a new base from sopers. Was only about £12

I've not had this issue, but I would be worried about wing damage. Removing the base sounds like the best option.
