So I bought my latest Zed (2.5i) based on colour and miles before I remembered that I said I would only have a 3.0si next time …. Ah well - red makes me smile every time I see it. (Just for those that delight to reply with buy a faster car …if you have a red 3.0si e85 give me a call….)
Then I read how people add the inlet manifold from a m52 b30 and hey presto - a tune up gets you into si territory.
I keep phoning around and there isn’t a great deal of either interest in tuning non turbos or expertise out there (actually the experts know there isn’t much to be done - it’s not that they don’t know - more that they do but the tuners don’t …)
I don’t mind spending a few quid - I paid very little for the car and unless a red 3.0 si pops up I’m keeping this one. It drives straight and other than a cam follower that thinks it’s an occasional drummer - it’s a great engine.
But I’d like to make it as good as it can be - 176 hp in a 2.5 seems low and …. Well you know how it is . So before i spend money on thinks like wheels and body and suspension …- I want to see what can be done with the engine.
Does anyone in the north west have a recommend ? It needs to be someone that can wield a spanner as well as hold a laptop. I’d happily consider fast road cams lighter flywheels and 4.0 final drives - I’d even contemplate something with the cats but the idea of changing them for mots leaves me cold - but i need some one to do it any ideas out there. ?
