Car has been running a little off with terrible fuel consumption, ad hoc erratic idling around 700rpm, slight stutter from stationary and possibly longer ignition cranking.
After scanning the computer it came up with the code 28bc which pointed to the camshaft position sensor (exhaust side).
Having read previous threads and people's bad experiences with aftermarket units, I bit the bullet and paid £125 from BMW.
Removal wasn't an issue but aligning the screw after fitting the new unit was a bind. Then I remembered I had a telescopic mirror with light which helped me to align the holes as you have to work blind.
Anyway, all seems well. Gear changes is quicker (auto), idle is smooth and fuel consumption very noticeably better.
On to my next job tomorrow which is to replace the windscreen seal which looks very tired.
Very happy today!
