Camera on front bumper!

okay, so i got myself also a 808 keychain cam and i think i got ripped off... i think it's version #8 :-s
The video lags as also the audio, poor quality of video and when holding the cam in the hand the image is so shaky that you get dizzy, i paid GBP 21,48 with a 8 gb sd card :-(... i have ordered a #11 now via ebay in Hong Kong,
i treid several times to make a video but it was always too shaky, i mounted on the inside a very firm box so the results is now ok but the quality is very poor... around 2 min it's starts to rain and the video darkens like it's night.

Couldn't mount mine of the front bumper of my 1er so put on dash, but that was pointing to much in the air, so will try mounting to the number plate mount, quality looked ok though.

I guess that is one downside I haven't mentioned... the file size of the video's are huge. 10 mins equates to about 1gb, but that does mean that with an 8gb SDHC card you'll get at least an hour, which is the predicted battery life anyway.

my 40 min vid filled up my 2gb card, doulbe what you have quoted :?

You may have bought a slightly different spec which perhaps saves/compresses differently.

Also, what you're actually filming will affect the final size. If you filmed a static white wall for 10 minutes the resulting file would be significantly smaller than if you filmed a crowd of people moving around for the same length of time. This would certainly be the case for static image JPEG compression, so I'd presume it'd be the same for MJPEG compression (which the 808 camera's use).

I also got mine!

But i only have a 1gb card from my blackberry available.. i might have to uncover my car and actually drive to work tomorrow (as opposed to working from home) just to take some vid footage!

anyone who bought the 808 (with the worst set of instructions i ever seen!!) do you have to replay the footage through a card reader or is there some way im unaware of that plays it through the camera via usb?? cheers

Gave mine another go after locating a better mounting location on my 1er.

Clip not that entertaining, but the quality isn't bad for £7

Damn. Oh well, if it costs me £7 to take the chance I'll give it a go. Keep your fingers crossed!

Mine works fine (sorry Dj-fille!). In fact, quality was so good for £7 that my wife wanted one so I've ordered her one to use on her bike!

It turned up today and seems to power up ok. Just need to get a memory card and im away!

I filmed the big storm who passed in Brussels... around 15 minutes you see that the water is 30 cm and very dangerous to drive in, so i turned around and went for another route...
It's the same storm that cost the lives of 5 persons @ the Pukkelpop festival  it was an inferno, just like the day after tomorrow.... :(

Just ordered the 808 cam after looking at the quality of the footage that has been posted up i'm very impressed
For the price it saves me strapping my Lumix TZ7 to the front bumper then watch it disappear under the wheels

allright, received the hd808, did a testdrive and the result was very good... in the evening i did a firmware update for removing the timestamp and the camera turned into a zombie :headbang:
i really don't have much luck with these camera's ... anyway i learned my lesson and bought another one vie e-bay....

OK so the quality isn't as good as others I've seen posted, and you're severely limited with controls once you're driving, but here's a little video from my journey into work.

Total production cost of this video was £6.50 - £6 for the camera (including p&p) and 50p for the masking tape to attach to the front bumper. Picture quality has suffered slightly due to youtube compression, and for some reason the sound seems to cut in and out a little. Enjoy!

That's the same camera I used to do some recording of one of the Forum runs last year - I drilled a hole in the casing of mine and added a 18650 battery to give it a bit longer life. Worked a treat!

Received my 808 yesterday and gave it a trial run today very dissapointed works fine but the video is very out of focus.
Contacted seller and sending a fully tested replacement,so can't argue with that.
