Camera on front bumper!

OK so the quality isn't as good as others I've seen posted, and you're severely limited with controls once you're driving, but here's a little video from my journey into work.

Total production cost of this video was £6.50 - £6 for the camera (including p&p) and 50p for the masking tape to attach to the front bumper. Picture quality has suffered slightly due to youtube compression, and for some reason the sound seems to cut in and out a little. Enjoy!

You just need to speed it up a little, add a V8 soundtrack and change the title to "Rendezvous in Nottingham" :P
 
I'm pretty sure this is the same camera that I just bought from ebay, as the date/time stamp looks the same! :D I paid about £12 though... :? The camera isn't that much bigger than a box of matches.

Love these sorts of videos, plan to do the same sort of thing soon.
 
For £6.50 that's awesome !

Ha! Exactly what I was going to do, wasn't sure how well known "Rendevous" was though...

This is the type of camera I bought, commonly know as the 808 model. There's hundreds on ebay, everything from 99p to about £20 - but loads of them are shipped from Hong Kong and have horrendous p&p charges (plus long delivery times). I was lucky in that mine was from the UK, delivered in 24 hours and was cheap!

Any chance you could link to the UK ebay seller?

I've bought a couple of these in the past but they always break in the end - I'm keen to try another and your footage quality appears better than anything I ever had :)

Yep, I did this to my e36 M3, but with a night vision camera and mounted it behind the grill. Just have to remember to put some Rain-X on it every few months so it is still usable in the rain. Front and rear night vision cameras... Cost was around $20 around 5 yrs ago. (480p)
 
It definitely takes MicroSD - and according to that website I've posted also SDHC.

I've got a couple SDHC cards knocking around at home so I'll give them a go.

I guess that is one downside I haven't mentioned... the file size of the video's are huge. 10 mins equates to about 1gb, but that does mean that with an 8gb SDHC card you'll get at least an hour, which is the predicted battery life anyway.
 
Sorry, I should have read the entire thread... it's not the same as what I did. I have a night vision camera behind the grille that feeds to the in car LCD screen... it's not a recorder, and does not record in any way.
 
I got one of these about a year ago and then lost the instructions and interest, must dig it out and get it working
 
Zed_not_ Zee - Whose night vision camera did you use? I'm curious because I work for the company that produces the cameras that are used in the high end BMWs, Audis and others. Usually a very expensive option. I haven't convinced them to install one in my Zed yet....
