Eh ? How about just not breaking the law in the first place, not sure how you would do it accidentally. Can't tell you how p*ssed off I get when people speed through the village at 40/50 mph this endangering the life of our children.
I'm always wary of speed cameras/traps in the areas that have lower limits (i.e. 30/40mph limits) so stick to them (or trundle through below), but am quite happy to cruise at 80-85mph on motorways & NSL dual-carriageways.

Considering all this NIMBY-ism, when my mate in rural Essex ran a community speedwatch campaign (i.e. they were trained to use a speed gun, and the owners of the speeding vehicles were sent a little warning letter) the majority (70%) were 'locals'.

These are probably the same people who hold everyone up by driving at 40mph down the NSL single carriageway roads, then blast their horns and/or flash their lights if you dare overtake, and then carry on through the 30mph village limit at 40mph!

I don't think I've ever seen a Z4 being driving at 70mph or less on a motorway or NSL dual-carriageway. Do you drive at 70mph or less on these roads...truthfully now :poke:

In fact I think the only vehicles on the motorway travelling below 70mph are the trucks - so in this case the MAJORITY of drivers speed (accidentally or otherwise).
It wasn't me admitting to doing 85 chaps

And still no one has answered him, hijacked by liberal do gooders, yada yada yada.
My nephew has got one, he's 24 and drives fast and he has a clean licence, so apparently they work. Been in there and it does get on your nerves mind.

What's being against speeding got to do with being a 'liberal do-gooder'? Haven't you been banned from driving on a number of occasions for speeding IIRC? Surely you would know better than anyone that its not worth flying around to get banned! :poke:

Ha ha, here we go.

Everywhere i go im surrounded by speed bumps, going up the shop is like crossing the som, all down to the same people. Those people who sit in the outside lane doing 70 saying to their misses 'I'm doing the speed limit Sandra, he can flash his lights as much as he wants, I'm staying put'. Traffic lights on roundabouts, it's all down to the same people, well I call them liberal dogooders, always have, always will. They do my swede in, if anything has adrenaline, it's got to be banned. We have the safest roads in the world, leave it at that. As for me being banned, yes 3 times, it's a good buzz driving fast, I can't be a hypocrite can I? :fuelfire:

Hey dizzy, did you give your hubby a :telloff:
Nah, us liberal do gooders don't do that sort of thing. I just pointed and laughed when he had to go to naughty boys school.
:D dont take it to heart, im no do gooder but i think that some may think i am from this debate and if they do then :P :D
i love these debates. :D :D

All over 13years ago, I just realised, I haven't had a point since 12 years, that's not bad, pretty chuffed with that. 1999 was the last ban. I must drive like a nun.

I thought liberal dogooders were the saviours of our planet, I thought the name would be a compliment. If we all think they are twats, why we following them in every aspect of our lives, chuck your rubbish all in together, bugger recycling, eat more meat and punch a cyclist a day. D)

Speed bumps are generally in busy residential areas, don't see the problem there? Usually put there due to 'boy racers' or other knobs thinking residential roads are good to be used as drag strips so they put them in to stop this kind of practice...I used to live down such a road, so much fun listening to the local chavs blasting up and down past the house  Speed bumps put in, problem solved!

Maybe the safest roads, but safest drivers? Not a chance in hell, a lot of drivers are useless/don't care and are down right dangerous and need controlling by means of speed limits etc. Unfortunately we all suffer because of this

check out the new thread in the forum discussion, put it there cus thought the 89 gang might want to play :D

Incidentally you can be done for 31 in a 30, there is no 10% + 2 etc anymore

I thought the 10% + 2 was at the discretion of the constabulary where the offence took place?

I got flashed by a Gatso a couple of months back in Leicester doing 35 in a 30 and was offered a driving awareness course rather than the points.

Just driven up on the A68 - never seen so many cameras.

Appropriate speed - always have in mind my own kids (now grown up) when in 30 zones. Once hit a dog - that was horrible enough cant imagine the worst scenario.

And I love spirited driving - got to work hard at keeping it safe.

:driving:

When I actually get consulted by government (be it central or local) on a speed limit change (always downwards) then I'll have a bit more time for those who take a puritanical approach to "speeding".

Try designing out unsafe road junctions, poor road design. Spend a bit of money to make roads safe. Oh no that's too difficult - it's much easier to stick a mobile van somewhere.

Roads would be a lot safer if they actually repaired all of the potholes!
