Top of the morning to you all!

It's a relief to find like minded people around who hopefully will understand that involuntary staring-out-the-window-at-every-opportunity-to-see-what's-parked-on-the-driveway tick that I've developed in the last few months (there must be a proper name for that, surely)

Before I zip off to find somewhere to take a decent picture, here are a couple of 'facts' about me:

I've had my z for about 3 months, it's a pretty standard SE right now and is very much a work in progress.
I'm over 30 (to say the least) but I never bothered getting a license until a little over 18months ago. I figured, unless I can have what I want, what's the point? So I got a Honda Accord for the first year to keep the insurance costs down (and make sure I wouldn't wrap myself around a lamp post) and then set my heart on a z4. Being a new(ish) driver it was even fun driving an Accord and now, I pretty much have a permanent grin on my face. (a bit like> :))
It's infectious too, one mate is now selling his MG and is currently trawling classifieds for a z while another is now reconsidering his westfield.
Hmm, that was supposed to be a quick fact, I tend to get carried away, sorry!

Well, it's looking great outside so I should be out in it. Before I go though, I see it's poor form to post with no pic so let's have a crack at some photobucketry:

Good to be here, thanks for having me! =)

Welcome aboard ... I'm just down the A14 from you, so I'm sure we'll see you on lots of cruises!

Thanks for the welcome. =)

Where in Cambridge am I? I'm in Shelford (round the corner from Waitrose if you know the area) and about 2 minutes from the M11. weee!

As for mods, well first off has to be wheels. I'd love some 18" Ellipsoids but haven't found a decent deal on any. Actually thinking about it, I haven't seen any deal on them. If I can't find the Ellipsoids, 18" M5's would be a pleasure too.

Then in no particular order, a Xenon kit, a DICE to replace the multichanger (CDs are so 2008 :P) and some clear indicators. Think I'll give the lambo doors a miss though. :P

Oh, and cruises? I think I could be well up for some of that.

Hmm, i should probably sort out a sig of some type.

*wanders off to photoshop*

Welcome - nice first post and a good effort to get a picture, and up on the post

Next posts confesses all - Is it a 2003/4 2.0 or 2.5? auto/manual, interior, etc.

Yep Been through Shelford a number of times when I was there... lived in Milton for a year, then moved to the north side.... now nowhere near - little further south :D

Morning! :)

"Your front plate is all white"

yep, that'll be down to my excellent paint program skills ; ) (It's a shame that in the Uk we have to have massive plates on the front at all I think. I demand a revolt!)

Hi there! It's a 2.2 which I understand is the English Gent model :P (actually, being a new(ish) driver it came down to the insurance in the end)

As for the transmission, well although my girlfriend insists otherwise, it's all about the manual as far as I'm concerned (we agree to disagree that it's best to feel "like you're not really driving"). Inside is pretty standard with regular black leather seats but I'm thinking about something that keeps me in my seat a bit more if I can find something that suits it.

"www.bmautosport.com has some Ellipsoids with tyres for £650 IIRC"

Thanks sirhutch! to be honest, now I've looked a bit more, I think I'm leaning more toward some 5 point split alloys. Guess I better get the brake calipers sorted now.

Another thing I think I need (though quite boringly) is some more wiper blades but "halfords" don't have them. If anyone could give me a heads up on whether it's going to be mission to track some down or not, that would ace. If so, should I make a packed lunch?

Welcome and we should meet up some time soon as I'm only about 20 miles away!

Nice choice of car. I'm trying to think how much trouble I would have got in if I had a Z4 18 months after I got my license.

Bye 4 now

Sceptre

Edit - PS, I have upgraded my wheel locks from standard! I'll let you look at them though.

Hi guys,

20 miles away? that's like 5 minutes away. ;)

So now I've had the car for a few months, I'm ready to start do a few bits to it. I bought a private plate yesterday which is a start (probably the biggest waste of money ever but it had to be done I guess) and next month it's wheels. Thanks to Srhutch for the pointer to BMautosport, I'm hopefully picking up some 18" split rims come the end of April. Ta!

Also, thanks to Gannet for the wiper heads up. I can now see and am far less likely to run over next doors soft headed puppy. =)

What's next though? (I still haven't put the DICE in but once I've a few things to be done ready to install, I'm going to take it all to the shop to get it all done in one go). I'd like to upgrade the back lights to the newer style but I can't work out if the new style lights are a different shape or are just a trick of the eye. If anyone can put me out of my misery, Mrs paperboy will thank you for it. ;)

Talking of mods, if anyone is aware of a one-stop z4 mods site (preferably in the UK) I'd love to know as I seem to do a lot of searching but come up with scrappy sites with not a lot there.

Oh, quick update on my first post btw, since buying my Z, Pete has now been totally sucked in and has just sold his MG to buy a Z3, a work mate is now annoying his girlfriend on a daily basis as he's decided that he "will get a convertible or die trying" (always the drama queen) and my girlfriend is now also converted and on the look out for something with two seats that goes "whoosh". It's funny, these are the same people who a few months ago were quite happy with their cars. Give 'em a ride about with the roof down on a sunny day though and they're like 5yr olds.

Before I go, I said I'd post another pic when I had chance so here's one from the top of Cambridge (I didn't have the heart to ask Mrs Paperboy to get out first :P):

Have a great week everyone, only a couple of weeks till the long Easter weekend. yay!

The lights are a different shape on the lower profile and if you want to retrofit you have a major wiring/electronics task on and need a new bumper cover with the correct profile
