Guys,

How do we feel about this:

Mod # 21, Front Camber Mod

Basically we can add up to 1.5 degrees of n camber to the front.

Thanks

That is certainly the cheapest method (but you'll still have to pay for a proper alignment set-up). There's plenty of options for fully adjustable camber kits, along with adjustable anti-roll bars, etc. Just depends how much you're thinking of tracking it, and how much extra tyre wear you can put up with.

My last e34 M5 has -1.5º and -2.5º front & back respectively, and even on the ditchfinder tyres it came on it stuck like manure to a blanket. When I dialled it back down it became very slippy until I put proper tyres on.

I don't want to track it to be honest plan is to have a dedicated project for the track. just improve front end feel. It can be done I drove a friends and I was very impressed with the steering feel in comparison.

On the Z4M pulling the camber pin will get it to -1.5 degrees, it starts at about -1.0. Mine started at -0.9 and ended up at -1.4 with the pins removed and the struts moved as far inwards as the slots allow.

Can you tell me if the car felt any different and what the effects on tyre wear were. Thanks

The car definitely feels more eager to turn in and seems to have more front-end grip with a little less understeer. My car had the toe-in on the front near the centre of the spec before increasing the camber, it is now near the minimum setting as I didn't adjust the tie-rod after increasing the camber. This also makes the car feel more lively but a bit more nervous too, I like it this way, but it does make the car more tiring to drive in a straight line at constant speed.

I've seen less scrubbing of the tyres when doing autocross, haven't seen any wear issues in normal use. When I took the original Contis off, the front tyres were quite even in depth across the tread with the standard factory alignment (middle of the slots on the strut tower), I expect to see a small amount of extra wear on the inside of the tyres due to the extra 0.5 degrees of camber, but not enough to shorten the tyre life.
