Was hoping to get early start so roads are clear for a good blast, but appreciate your travel distance. I was thinking of an 8 o'clock meet at the metro centre, off by 0830. However, flexible, would be good if you could make it - What would be too early for you?

You should organise what's best for you and the local lads and we'll try and fit in. Don't know the metro centre well, but providing it's easy enough to find, ideally has some Petrol and loos easy to hand then sounds fine to me.

Failing that we could meet up mid-route, but I want to see the best bits!!

For anyone travling up from the south I would be happy to meet up part way. There are a few places I can think of, The A167 Darlington exit, the A689 Sedgefield exit or the A688 Bowburn exit. There are services on each of these exits to make like easier.

The Metro centre is very easy for me but it can be a bit of a pain navigating the car parks and fuel is limited to Asda (pay at machine) Or iirc Total, a little further out by the Toyota dealership.

If people want v-power, the easiest is probably the Shell station by the Redheugh bridge

Hi all.

Been struggling to think of suitable meet point. Some where just off a1 like metro centre or Washington services would be ideal

Problem with Washington is some will be coming from north and some south, and from what I know of those services we will be on opposite sides of the road. I don't think it's very easy if coming from north to south to get onto other side carriage way unless you know the roads quite well. If someone can enlighten me then I reckon the Washington on north bound carriage way would be the best meet point

As for shell at redheugh, this is one of my preferred petrol stations but not a lot of space to meet and didn't want to drag people into Newcastle/Gateshead.

Open to suggestions

How does an 8o'clock start time sound for folks?

8 is fine for me as i'm only 15mins down the road, regarding the meet point i think the nortbound services would be a better spot

Washington services seems like a winner to me. The flyover allows everyone to meet up by foot, either side of the moterway, and its not that hard to turn around either. I'd happily jump into one of the passenger seats to lead the way back over to the correct side.

A quick look on the bing maps (washington services) shows the road layout.

fyi - still in the 130 and no set date yet. Reminds me I need to chase the dealer for an update :telloff:

The turn off for Chester le Street is only a couple of minute's away, dead easy turnround piont. Be warned though you will be rapped when you fill up there, it's bloody expensive  .

So that'll be 90 miles (*2) and 1.30 hours (*2) just to get to the meet (presuming it's DH3 2SJ).

8 am kick-off means getting up at 6 to leave the house at 6.30.

Sounds great !! Looking forward to seeing you all there :driving: .

Whereabouts in the carpark (never having been their before - suggest we park in a distant corner somewhere so we can spot each other - I think I already have Brendon's (and Chris's) telephone numbers so I can always report in if I'm lost!)

Only 1 week away - Do we have a list of definates yet?

That's the one(DH3 2SJ). Don't worry about finding people, there is only one car park (for cars) and it's not that big.

Drove past Washington services this morning and the price for regular petrol was £1.33 which i thought wasn't bad for M/way services.

Tony happy to tag along and show you the way as you will be passing the jct i got on at

Your right about that, must have realised nobody was stopping there as there is a Sainsbury's a couple of miles down the road.
