I was at my mechanical wizards shop this week and there was a lovley purple 2004 e85 parked up that the owner is a bit unsure what to do with due to the repairs that are needed and the expense and its on 150k miles.

It has an issue with the EPS motor and ABS pump, needs a suspension refresh and some brakes.

Does the forum have a business card or flyer that I can pass onto my mechanic for the owner to contact the forum to see if the lovley people on here can help them out?

If I had the space I would be tempted in making an offer and having it for myself to repair.

That sounds interesting. For a DIY person you’re looking at EPS £295, ABS pump £190. Both overhauled at ECU Testing. Discs and pads £200. Suspension refresh £450 excluding springs.
So, given the current market it would have to be almost given away to be worth anyone saving.
Sadly worth more in bits.
However, if you have time to place an advert on their behalf it should garner some interest.

I will see if I can get a message to the owner to contact the forum :) Im heading back there on Wednesday so will pass on a note to my mechanical wizzard :)

Just out of interest what kinda price do you mean when you say practicly giving it away £1k? Or are you more talking cash for clunkers pricing like £500. Ive not been watching the zed market price.

Depends on the model but on the mileage it will be around £2500 to sell fixed up. If it’s a 4-pot forget it! So paying more than £1k to do it up and keep it would work out if you could fix it yourself. To sell on you’d be doing it for the fun of it not to make money. If it’s a 2.0 then I’d offer £500 to have it for spares.

It’s on Facebook now if anyone wants to give the owner a shout.

I was tempted to offer £500 but the issues sound a bit much for an expert amateur like me. I think we need some real experts on it.

Saw it at NCB Autokraft and it does look like a well looked after car from the distance. Looks more purple than red to me but must be getting colour blind in my old age.

Power steering is a couple of hours work and £295 to ECU Testing.
Wiper motor is easy to swap for another one.
Be nice to know what the warning lights are.
Gremlins in the electrics is a bit vague, but we do know that one module on the K-Bus having a paddy can upset all the others, so possibly not as bad as he thinks.
However, it's worth more in bits. :(

Given the fact that Noel(NCB Autokraft) said it has a problem with the ABS pump/module I would probably say the lights would be the "Trifecta" ? Is the Power steering motor on the k-bus?

The owner is looking for £1500 according to the facebook post. Bit too high for my liking even as a project.
