Hi currently searching the country for a Z4 and need to decide if I should get the 2ltr or the 2.5ltr.
Is the 2ltr lacking in power and alittle gutless, or does everyone find them a great all rounder?
Please help found a great 2ltr sport with all the extras jut worried I shall feel disappionted with the performance, have done a test drive but with a sales person sat next to you I simply can`nt tell. :headbang:
Thanks for any advice I need it

Hi i have had a '08 2.0 Sport for 2 years and I absolutely love it. It's not the fastest car of the bunch but I personally feel it is a good all round car that I'm sure will not disappoint.

Any particular reason you're not looking at 3 Litre cars? The 2.5 isn't much better for economy.
Just think the 3ltr Z4 is alittle excessive in a two seater car, thats just my opinion mind. The car is only for short journeys, the 2.5ltr sounds amazing tho. :D

Thats what a liking to hear, I understand its not lighting quick I just want it to be fun!! :driving:
Its got to be a sport that much am sure of. :D

if the 2.0ltr ticks your box then go for it, a neagative may be when you want to resell, i think more people will want the bigger engine, but then as ever, i could be wrong

Resell value is`nt on the top of my list but to be honest its the 3ltrs am finding that people are worried about with the rising costs of fuel, am looking to keep the z4 for atleast 2 years. I have just sold my honda civic type-R, I know a 2ltr is never going to feel as powerful as my old car but I do`nt want to drive like a granny either

id be wary- try a few- its not all down to speed but sound and feel.
Totally agree with you about the sound, would have a 2.5 ltr in a heart beat but can`nt find one at the right price with the right spec, maybe I should dust my push bike off ready for work this could be a long wait

the 2.0 is a brilliant car, fast enough, handles well, good fuel economy ........... I had one for 18 months, and I was proper happy with it,
but then I sold it and got an M series .......... hahahahaha
depends what you want - seriously, the only real upside of the 2.0lt is fuel economy - Id advise a 6 cylinder, and probably the 3.0 lt

i know my dad bought a 4cyl as a sunny day toy and it lasted 2 months before being replaced for a 6cyl.

I disagree with previous poster that only upside of 2.0 is economy. I drove a 2.0, 2.5 & 3.0 back to back. The lower weight, better turn in and handling of the 2.0 is another plus, in my opinion. I found it the most fun to drive on the twisty roads where I live.

Will you be disappointed with the 2.0 power. If you're asking early on it's obviously quite important to you so go for the 2.5 or 3.0 if you can afford it. However, be honest with yourself about how often you'll use the extra grunt. I approach speed limits fast enough in my 2.0. It's the handling for me that makes a rewarding drive.

Good luck!

Had the 2.0 l nearly a year now and couldn't have served me better.

Did 3000 mile euro tour at 44mpg average with no holding back.

Can't hammer it as speed cameras ever 500 yds, well in Essex/London anyway.

And as for, it won't be worth selling on as much in years to come, sounds like bullshit to me, be worth more as it don't guzzle petrol in the new green world.

I've been looking through the UK catalog for the 2006 cars, and the fuel economy (city/highway combined) they've listed for the 2.0, 2.5i, 2.5si, and 3.0si are the following (in l/100km): 7.4, 8.2, 8.3, and 8.5.

The same cars for 0-100km acceleration are: 8.2, 7.1, 6.5 and 5.7. I'm not a road racer by nature, but I do enjoy good acceleration - I also appreciate decent fuel economy. For me, the 3.0si is a great compromise - what I consider good fuel economy, but very spirited performance. As far as I know, they didn't sell the 4 cylinder model over here, but given the choice I'd personally opt for the extra performance, at the cost of purchasing an extra liter of fuel for every 100 km traveled ... :D

Everyone has their own needs, so your priorities may be different. According to the catalog, there is a significant difference in weight - the 2.0 is listed at 1295kg, and the three six cylinders are 1345, 1360 and 1385 respectively. What difference that would make to the car's handling, I can't say - I've certainly got no complaints on the handling front.

Good luck whatever you decide on ... they're all great cars!

Doesn't look like a big difference in fuel consumption but those figures are derived under controlled conditions. Driven hard my guess is the disparity increases significantly. Mind you, so would your progress.. on an empty road that's mostly straight, neither of which are common in the UK :(

To me, the 2.0 feels more responsive to steering input and quicker to change direction, lighting quick actually, as though it's got a different setup, camber and toe-in.

If you love the six cyl. sound, then go for an older, higher mile 3.0, 2.5, or have you considered the 2.2?

Make sure the inside of the 2L (if you get one) has been upgraded from standard as the basic seat dash etc are very sad
