Not a problem as such, but perhaps to alleviate some confusion.
This comes from a discussion that [tag]enuff_zed[/tag] and I have been having recently. It started with me pointing out that the larger engine cover on my 2008 2.0 doesn't seem to fit properly, and then realising that I don't have the two studs on the righthand side of the intake manifold that are required. I dug out the old smaller cover (part number 11617571703) and traced that back on RealOEM, and the Z4 is not on that list, and equates to the N46N engine instead.
This left me wondering what the deal is with the 2.0 engines; mine says 'B20BB' on the block and the inner wing sticker says 'N46B20B'. Did the later ones get a different version of the N46? Google doesn't seem to help here.
I know us 2.0 people are generally looked down on, but if anyone with one can provide the year of theirs, whether they've got the 'full size' engine cover (rather than the smaller plastic rectangle that goes over the coils) or not, and perhaps what the block says and the sticker on the inner wing, perhaps we can start to build a picture of what BMW did in the last year or so of E85 2.0 production. Or if anyone know exactly what happened anyway, that'll save the effort!
