Call Assist & European breakdown cover

For those in the UK who have driven in Europe: did you purchase breakdown cover and if so who would you recommend?

I've got myself covered with Call Assist (via Elephant.co.uk who I'm insured with) for a 1 week trip later this month - any experiences with them?

Thanks

Was with Grren Flag for years was covered for 90 days Euro driving but never had to use them and this year i had the free cover that came with my 12 month BMW Warranty on a used car

I've taken the AA European Cover for each of my Jeep sorties around Europe as the chances of breakages are so high in competition driving (although the offroad itself is not covered so you need to drag yourself to tarmac....lol).

Needed them once in Sweden when a wheel bearing collapsed at the roadside and the recovery to a dealership was superb. Buddy used them and they took his Jeep back to the UK also smoothly.

I've used AA European cover in the past and the only time I had to use them they were pretty good (my Audi A6 water pump went in France). After wasting my own time trying to get it sorted at a French Audi dealer I contacted the AA and they took control ... got me a replacement for the journey home (but only as far as Dover then had to change to UK vehicle) and A6 came back later on a trailer. Best part was we managed to fill the A6's boot with cases of wine before we left ... and it was still there when it was delivered to the Audi dealer in the UK!

I had the BMW cover that is part of the used-approved warranty this year ... but no problems anyway!

Bon chance!

I'm planning a trip to Europe and the ring and got a lot of recommendations for ADACplus. 80 euros for cover across Europe - they use AA in the UK.

now thinking about eurpoean cover myself????

what cover should I have with BMW? I bought my car 2 years ago from BMW, it was a new pre registered BMW car

I'm using the Mondial cover I have as part of my insured warranty on the Z4MC.

But, I used to use ADAC Plus (because they included/reimbursed recovery from the 'Ring) until I actually tried to use them a few years ago.

They picked my M5 up from the side of the autobahn on a Saturday afternoon (throttle position sensor problem), and because the garages would be closed they dropped it off at the hotel, and packed up as if they were about to leave. When we asked about the arrangements to get the car recovered to either a local BMW dealer on the Monday and getting a courtesy/hire car/flight home or getting recovered back to the UK immediately, I was told that they felt they had done all they could and it was up to me to make further arrangements myself

Maybe they're better with their own countrymen, but I'll not be using them again :headbang:
