Cabin Filter

Decided to check my cabin filter today. Took about 1 minute to remove. Filter looked as if it had been in there since new, 8 years! Was absolutely rotten and stacked up with leaves. New filter from GSF £10.47, fitted in 2 mins.

Might be worth checking.

Stupid question but where is the cabin filter located?

Torch and medium crosshead screwdriver, passenger footwell. Glovebox closed, to the left and right of the glovebox hinge there are 2 screws, undo a remove the panel, disconnect footwell light. Shine torch in footwell to the right, black filter housing should be clearly visible, panel cover at the bottom.

I've got a replacement cabin filter ready to go on at my next oil service (in 1000km). Microfilter replacement is actually a standard part of the oil service described in the TIS (in addition to the oil filter, checking brake wear, etc.).

Interesting to note in that video that the same filter is used on both E85/6 and E89 Zeds...

Just took out mine. Easy job to do. Cleaned out with an aircompressor. Lots of leaves came out.

Maybe a silly question but does the obc not tell you when these sort of things need changing? I just assumed it would be the same as our 5 series? Sorry for the newbie question :/

Well its part of regular service but I checked again after winter season. Not in vain as lots of leaves came out.

So was mine when it went to BMW for an oil service, I know they done it because they apologiesed because they had to hover the passenger side when I asked them not to clean the car.
